The Ship Has Landed !
CRACK! A burning bolt lit up the pitch black sky, like a lighthouse in the night. Although Milly’s vision was impaired by the torrential rain and thunder, the light cast a silhouette of a monstrous creature aboard the ship. Fear and panic crashed over her like a gigantic wave, as she realised the murky figure’s true intentions. “HEY!” before Milly had time to react, a sinking feeling dropped to the pit of her stomach as the ship started to plummet into the void.
The sound of chirping birds and gushing waters awoke Milly from her deep sleep, unaware of how long she had been there, or how she got there. Milly felt like she’d gone twelve rounds with a Minotaur. In a haze she picked herself up and looked around to assess her surroundings and the damage of the crippled vessel. The first thing she noticed was the enormous, pink trees towering over her like outlandish umbrellas, sheltering her from the unusually hot, blazing sun. In the bustling branches, tiny winged creatures resembling lizards, chirped a whimsical tune.
Shaking off the distractions, she turned her attentions to the ruins of the once almighty sky ship, now looking like an old shored up fisherman’s boat, weathered by time, damaged and in need of repair.
Fabulous! I love your use of similes.
