Chapter 3

Barry and Phoebe took cover behind a large grey rock.  Captain Gerald came and pushed them out of the way.  “What did you do that for?” screamed Barry.  “I need to survive if any of us are going to get out of here alive – we need to find my friend John!”

Barry’s head was full of questions flying around like planes in a busy airport.  Who is John? Did Captain Gerald know there were dragons here?  And… how do I get back behind that rock?

Suddenly an old man appeared from out of the mountain and walked towards the rock.  His sooty white beard was straggly like an ungroomed dog.  As he walked past the dragons, they cowered and took a step back.  It was like they were scared of him.  Captain Gerald climbed out from behind the rock and went to greet him.  “Children, this is my friend John.  John Heimdall.” Barry knew who Heimdall was from the books at school.  Heimdall was the protector of Asgard, home to the Norse Gods
