The Unsettling Journey…

There was nothing left to do. Peter grasped onto the steering wheel hoping to head another direction. The thunder boomed over the town and above the airship. Large drops of rain splashed every inch of Earth and, to Peter and April’s surprise, there wasn’t any evidence of sunlight, AND it was the afternoon! The twins knew escape was futile, but they’d still try to get out of this madness. Hesitating, Peter slowly let go of the wheel but quickly ran to grasp onto his sister. This was the last time he would be able to do it. Or would it be?

The brave boy sprinted back to the wheel as his life literally depended on it. He put all his force onto the wheel. “Relax brother, it’s just a prank and a simulation mum and dad are pulling on us,” laughed April, not believing in a thing.

“How can you be so sure, when they’re DEAD?!?” yelled Peter, blinking back the drops of water in his eyes. He was more tearful than before. The gabby girl wasn’t so talkative now. Unsettlingly, she sobbed, holding her hands against her eyes and falling on her knees. When will everything go back to normal? When can they just live peacefully again? When can they revive their parents…?

April, understanding the hatred her brother felt for her, she dashed into the bathroom and locked the door, hoping to never have to come out. Peter didn’t feel the best after his sister thought he hated her. He wanted to apologise, have them love each other, no matter what happens. He announced, “I’m sorry, April. I know I was rude, but please forgive me.” After hearing those beautiful words, April ran out of the bathroom and hugged her brother so tight, he could barely breathe. After he got her to scoot off, he worked on his flying. Don’t you just love a happy family.

The airship was breaking apart, bit by bit, and there was nothing they could do to stop it. Their only hope was to find their way home. That hope was destroyed very soon. A strip of thunder struck and boomed down onto the balloon of the airship and they slowly started to slowly descend towards the town and crash onto the floor they would most definitely die. Regretting his decisions, he let three words fly out of his mouth, and they were the best three words anyone could say in a situation like this. “I love you.”

They were only inches away from the ground, and they were ready to say goodbye to everything. Suddenly, something grasped them by the T-shirts and pulled them up and out of the discarded airship. Without warning, the airship collided with the ground and broke into at least one thousand pieces. After shaking their heads, the twins turned round to see who had rescued their innocent lives. They were shocked.

“D-dad?” they both stuttered.
