The box
Five annoying hours later, captain Jolly wandered into the clearing with the rest of the crew.
“Where’s the supplies?” Asked Joan.
“We just found out why this village was abandoned.” “I’ll tell you more later; Right now I need rest.”
“Well I just found this boy called Jacob.”
“Excellent, bring him to the slaves quarters.”
“But..” stuttered Joan.
“Enough.” “Slave quarters now.”
Joan led Jacob round the corner. “I’m not going to let you die in the horrible slave quarters.”
“What’s a slave quarters?” Asked Jacob.
“You don’t need to know.” They jumped down a deck and into Joan’s small room.
“There, you can hide in this box.”
“Jacob not in want box, I claustrophobic.”
“Do you want to live or die.”
“I’d rather die in a slave-quarters, than live in a box.”
Frustration bubbled within Joan, she was trying to save him, what didn’t he understand?
“You will go in the box whether you like it or not.” stated Joan grabbing Jacob.
“He struggled under her grip.” Joan knew that getting him inside was futile.
“Okay,” “how about a compromise?”
“What’s a Compromise?”
“Never mind, let’s just say I’ll let you stay in my room and if you go in the box when people come.”
“Ok.”
“Let’s test.”
As Joan opened the disused box she realised something else was inside…
