The Emporium

The Emporium was popular for decades, until it was coaxed to close. Still, abandoned like always, sitting in the city, untouched and ignored. No one minded and cared about the run-down Emporium anymore. Despite the dust in the glass display, Poppy wanted to venture further into the warm darkness of the Emporium.

 

CHAPTER ONE:

One foggy noon, Poppy happened to walk past the emporium, the door was not often open, but today, it was. She peeked into the inviting corridor, It was like any abandoned building, the wallpaper draped down from the brown walls, spindly cobwebs coiled from the roof. Poppy strode into the dusk, the floorboards creaked as she walked…

  1. I really like this story because although it is quite short it invites the reader and builds suspense as well as using ambitious vocabulary.
