The mysterious emporium
The mysterious emporium prologue
There are some places where no one dares to go. The mysterious emporium was like that.
Even though the toys looked alive and tried to get you to come in. Even through you could hear a melody that birds chirped through the windows. Even though you could smell baked bread and hot chocolate. Even though there was a multicoloured sweets of every shape and size trying to tempt you in.
But still no one ever stepped foot inside the ancient building it was like it wanted you to come in at any cost but no one did… until Joseph came along.
Chapter 1- Into the mystery
Joseph had always been quite an adventures boy though his dad had warned him that it could get him in big trouble. After a long day of school one day he was scooting home in the rain when he went by the old emporium. In the corner of his eye he saw that the door was wide open. His feet suddenly propped his scooter up and and took him inside.
Everywhere he looked there was magical things he wanted to touch. He saw a golden cage with a speaking toucan filling the shop with noise. A shrunken planet floating around the ceiling with 6 moons orbiting it. A t-rex’s jaw still dripping blood from its last victim. On the counter he saw a bowl of hot chocolate and cups to fill next to the bowl. There was an army of toy soldiers, train trackers were winding around the room and some stuffed animals which looked like they were alive. A gigantic fish tank sat atop of a table in the corner of the room as tropical fish swam quickly through the water. Even with all of this Joseph’s interest was on a large book with the words, the book of pictures engraved on the front cover. As he turned the pages words ran side to side forming a new picture every time.
”I you have found my book of pictures,” hissed a voice from the shadows. Joseph jumped back, shut the book and stared up to see who had just spoken. It was an old man whose eyes were green like emeralds. To the side of him a black cat shook its head in disapprovingly.
Great work! I love your vocabulary! Maybe next time make it longer, I loved reading this. I also like the phrase”hissed from the shadows”, I might magpie that for my future work if you don’t mind!
