The Sea Unicorn

The sea unicorn is a very rare creature that can do unbelievable magic, not just with its horn, but with its voice; they can grant 3 wishes to any human brave enough to seek them and can use their beautiful singing voice to either put animals or humans into a deep slumber or trance. This is just one of their many defences: they travel in packs of no less than 4 other unicorns and if a predator approaches, they use their sharp horns to poke and their strong hooves to kick their attacker – unicorns are only vicious if they feel threatened or their young are in danger. Sea unicorns live under the sea, and keep safe by living in sharp coral reefs. Sharks, who, unlike unicorns, don’t have thick fur for protection, don’t go near. Their diet consists of small fish, plankton and seaweed, which is very hydrating and nutritious.

Many people have mistaken these legendary creatures for merpeople because of their royal blue, flowing mane, with glittering seashells and pearls amongst the glittering tangles. Females have thick teal fur, with gold scale-like waves and a shimmering golden horn, whilst males have hot pink fur, with silver scaly texture and, instead of a horn, a pair of webbed golden wings (to act as flippers when swimming). Their young are pure white, with an undeveloped horn or wings – many mistake these for young horses. Sea unicorns have slim, streamlined faces, so that they can swim faster. Sadly, sea unicorns are an endangered species, as many humans hunt them.
