Trumpeting Elephants
What are loud? A family of trumpeting elephants stampeding across the savannah, my sister’s music blaring through the walls and my dog’s deep bark at the sound of a knock at the door.
What are quiet? The sound of white winter snowflakes falling from the heavy sky, a timid mouse scavenging for scraps in the kitchen and a baby sleeping soundly in its cot.
What are soft? A small newborn bunny hopping through a peaceful meadow, a blanket of billowing candyfloss and a brand new pair of fluffy pyjamas.
What are rough? A dangerous alligator’s skin, a fierce lion’s tongue and a dog’s fur that has been rolling in mud.
What are hot? A jalapeño pepper in a mexican restaurant, the blazing hot sun beaming down on the beach and bubbling hot lava erupting from an explosive volcano.
What are cold? The bitter wild wind blowing at midnight, an ice cream on a cold winter’s day and snowstorms swirling and growling at night.
