chapter 4
Mustering up the courage, she leapt out from beneath the table, dodged past the beast[with much difficulty]and ran out of the room.Tanith ran and ran.not stopping. She recognised her surroundings and realised the door was around here.Ignoring the screeching of the beast Tanith darted from door to door, kicking them open.each one more empty than the last.Helpless she stood there waiting for the beast to find her, trying to think of a way out.She wished the ground would just open up and swallow her.And that’s what it did.
Tanith fell into a deep pond. She watched as the hole closed above her.She looked down.At the bottom of the pond there was a faint outline of a door.Desperate, she swam as fast as she could. She reached the door, pulled it open and was sucked through. She looked up to see herself back in the shop. Her clothes were wet and her hair drenched But as she stood there she saw the water slowly rise off her and collect in a puddle in the air.She watched as the puddle slowly drifted to the ground, controlled by some invisible hand.it splashed onto the floor soaking her boots. She looked up.There Mr James stood, leaning against the wall, arms folded and disappointment in his eyes.”What happened?”Tanith asked innocently.
“You can’t go through the door by yourself.”He said dangerously quiet “It’s dangerous.” Mr James left the room, went to the front of the shop.He stood next to the door holding it open.”Please leave my shop,”He said without emotion”Do not return.”She walked out of the shop, her head overflowing with curiosity.
She felt a shiver down her spine. She turned around, but the shop wasn’t there. It was as if it had never been there. She walked home doubting her sanity, but it was real it had to be her boots were still wet and it never rained. She carried on.Tomorrow she would go back.Hopefully it would be there. She spun sharply. She felt as though something was watching her.She couldn’t see the dog that had followed her the whole way hiding behind the tree.
