finished emporium story
Prologue
There is an old crooked emporium across the road for me and no one has ever dared to step foot in there. Allot of people walk past wondering what they sell and who even owns it!
Chapter 1- through the door
Megan had always been nosey and her sister often warned her that it might get her into mischief. One breezy morning, she was walking down Dog Street when she noticed something weird about the emporium. For the first time in a while the door was open and without thinking about it, she stepped inside.
Everywhere she looked, it was packed with wonders and things she urged to touch. She saw a golden swing levitating off the ground lighting up the shop. A creepy antique doll sat on the dusty worktop staring to the other side. Multiple chairs floating in Mid Air. Several silver clocks dangling off the wall like broken shelves collapsing. A brightly colored display with antique toy cars and bowls or fruit.
But what interested Megan the most was an old leather bound book. As she turned the pages, dust flew out and all the ink started to dance on clouds of dust.
“I see you’ve found my book of marvels” whispered a voice. Megan gasped, closed the book and looked up at the owner. He was a very tall man whose eyes beamed bright red with a robin sat on his shoulder. It shook his head at her disapprovingly.
Chapter 2- a warning disobeyed
Turning back, she opened the book. Each page contained a magical world that had thousands of tiny towns such as, as a forest with prehistorical creatures, 10 oceans, 16 villages, and even land full of cottages. Every page she turned was an amazing sight to see! Without knowing, Megan suddenly had a pen in her right hand and she started to draw a forest full of monkeys, campfires, woodpeckers, sloths, robins, and even owls. “follow me” whispered the robin and without thinking she stood up and walked slowly behind him. Megan got lead up to a door. She opened it carefully, closed her eyes and crept forwards. Seconds later, she opened her eyes to see a magnificent forest with monkeys climbing trees, woodpeckers making hides, robins flying high and sloths sleeping. Megan noticed that it was exactly how she drawn it in the leather book. Without realizing, she ran towards a campsite with marsh mellows sitting there ready to be toasted!
Chapter 3- through the door
Megan saw a mysterious bungalow behind some trees and noticed that the door was open. Without taking a second to think she stepped inside, her heart thumped rapidly! The house has everything you needed: a gigantic living room with an amazingly soft sofa that also had fluffy pillows; plates full of pancakes served with strawberries and whipped cream; and even a backyard full of trampolines and a tiny hideout right at the end. It was like she stepped into a dream.
“hello”, exclaimed Megan, wondering if anyone else was there. But she was met by silence. She made her way through the hallway heading towards the kitchen. There was no one showing themselves and she suddenly felt like someone was watching her since she kept hearing people whisper.
Megan took no notice and just admired the amazing kitchen. She decided that before she left the kitchen she was going to take a massive bite out of the glazed donut. Moments later, she heard a creak coming from the stairs and her mouth filled with nervousness! Seconds later, she wondered if someone was here..
She had thrown into her drawing what she most craved for and it didn’t seem as if it was going to come true. There was no evidence her beloved lost guinea pig was going to come. It didn’t feel the same, until she heard it.
Something upstairs; something was moving and it didn’t sound like normal footsteps it was like a scraping noise across the floorboards. There was also a weird sound accompanied by a low thud. She stared up the stairs, plucked up courage and ascended step-by-step, trying to keep silent. She froze and peered round the door into the bedroom. Everything as still. Except for the ticking from the alarm clock.
A moment later, she heard the mysterious sound again. Turning round slowly, she pushed the bedroom door open. It was seconds until she saw it: a black ebony shadow lunging towards her with long, spiky, spider looking legs with the most crooked toe nails. There was no time to think. Megan pushed the heavy cottage door open and as quick as lightning she dashed through woods back to the exit.
But there was nothing there. No door. Absolutely nothing in site! Dark shadows floating round everywhere! With the trees and branches cracking.
“come back”, hissed a voice from the cottage.
