finshed emporium story
Trying to ignore the constant voice that rang in her ears, Megan paused where she was sure that the door must have been standing. But it was gone. No door but there was a tiny hole at the brim of an oak tree that was just about hidden behind some leaves. It was a rather weird emerald color surrounded by ivy with green water running down it. Megan dropped a stone to see how long the drop was! When she let go of it all she heard was a loud squeaky noise fading away. After studying this mysterious hole she could just about see the door lying on the bottom.
Immediately, she plummeted down into the hole. Megan had expected it to be dark and cold but actually it was the opposite. Thankfully, that summer she had joined a rock climbing camp and came 1st place. She heard the footsteps echo getting closer and louder. She wished herself luck and sprung down the hole as quick as lighting strikes.
Ascending down, treading through the dirty hole heading towards the outline of the door at the very bottom. Her heart struck of fear in her chest. Quickly, she needed to calm down but instead she started to sprint through. Gasping hard onto the door handle she heaved. With a sigh, as if she was being tortured, she ran as fast as her legs could carry her through the door. Exhaustedly, she flopped onto the floor and lay there trying to build up courage since she made it. The door was shut. Surprisingly, everything was clean, quiet and so relaxing. She was back where she started. What had happened?
Regretfully, she slowly progressed through, slipped underneath the curtains and stepped into the shop. Professor silence gaped at her, “ah I see you have come back to us. Did you find what you were searching for?” Megan just gazed at the floor.
“the thing is,” professor silence explained, “you can visit many wonders but the past cannot be reversed, so we do not always find what we request. Still, there is always another day.” He put down the silver snail he was mending, looked back up at Megan and smiled.
“come again another day,” he said, holding the door open. Megan stepped out onto the path trying to find her house. She turned around. Professor silence and the shop had vanished. It was like it was never there. She felt the shiver of magic and shuddered.
Maybe tomorrow, she wondered as she travelled home. What she didn’t realize was that she was being followed by the robin that was on professor silences shoulder. When she arrived home the robin was gone but, when Megan was about to close the door it was in a birds nest at the peak of a willow tree. The robin lifted up a wing, waved and lay its head down to rest.
