Podkin one ear chapter one
After packing a large satchel of necessities, Podkin, Paz and Pook were finally ready leave. As they knew that this long and formidable quest would take at least a week, many items and appliances had been gathered to assist them on their journey. Sadly, the previous day most of Amity Grotto’s warriors had been lost due to a terrible and ferocious fight against the Gorm. Therefore, it was discussed that an army of soldiers were to be recruited to join a battle, that should end the Gorm once and for all. It was confirmed that the three most young and brave children would travel to the other side of Rabingthorpe to gather a troop. And those young and brave warriors just happened to be Podkin, Paz and Pook. This quest would lead them through the cold and shadowy conical caves, up the Craggy mountains and through the ancient Wisdom woods to Ultimus Delve.
The send off was long and sorrowful. For the next few weeks, no one would see Podkin, Paz and Pook, or even know if they were alive. But many had faith that they would be safe; they were the Chieftains children after all.
As they trudged through the dense undergrowth, the little band of rabbits were unusually quiet. Apart from the squabbling birds, the silence was shattering. Inside Paz’s little head snakes slithered, murderer’s threatened and she could even see the clinking armer of the Gorm. However, she tried to push that away – there was no time for silly little fears. They continued to wearily walk down the timeworn paths that the ancient warriors once trod. Greenery surrounded them, yet the dry marshes were dank and vast. The sky was beginning to darken. Hopefully, they would reach the cavern before darkness descended completely.
Finally, after hours of trekking, they arrived at the Conical Caves. Here, they would be able to shelter from evil predators and keep relatively warm. They would be safe, and that was all the huddle of rabbits wanted. Gathering around a small fire, Podkin, Paz and Pook warmed their frozen feet. Paz emptied a parcel of crackers, a few nuts and a piece of cheese for them all to eat. Each one of them ate with relish – their journey had been tiring and they had built up an appetite. The meal was demolished in minutes, and the exhausted bunnies were ready for a sleep. Nevertheless, Podkin was awake far into the night, wondering if they would ever reach the safety of Ultimus Delve…
