The Death Widow Spider

The Death Widow Spider is a diminutive, venomous insect, which has only been spotted once, but scientists know what there are lots more. It had never been seen before until a recent tsunami in Hong Kong, when a few of these little beasts were spotted running away. Scientists researched and found out that there are probably over 1000 more of these worldwide. As the Death Widow Spider multiplies, they will start to cause more and more havoc around the world. You never know where they will attack next. Are you afraid of the venomous monsters now?

Hairy grip

The Death Widow Spider has long, hairy legs for good grip when it’s climbing. The legs are strong and muscular so that when it is climbing up things, it can use the hairs and rap them around whatever it’s going up or down. The hairs are almost like little sticks of glue, sticking off the legs that attach to the object that is being walked up. They stop the spider from falling if it is vertically straight. They are also really useful when there are strong winds because they prevent the spider from getting blown away.

Venomous bites and pointed teeth

This dangerous, little creature also has sharp, pointed teeth with strong, poisonous venom in every bite. The teeth of the Death Widow Spider are noxious and malevolent and can be extremely harmful to the bodies of humans or any other animal it decides to attack. When the spider strikes, it’s teeth dig into the skin and poisonous venom in injected.

Where am I going?

The Death Widow Spider has two long, pointy stick-like things, sticking out of the top of its head. These are called antennas. They are used so that the animal knows where it’s going and knows all its surroundings. They’re very clever, nimble and useful. They are everyday body parts that continuously prevent the chance of the spider getting killed.

Stranger Danger

Most people know that the Death Widow Spider is venomous, right? Well if you didn’t, here’s how you could tell. If you come across a wild creature and don’t know if it’s poisonous or not, then look for a bright-coloured spot(s) or a colourful patch on its body. This usually means that the animal is poisonous. It warns and alerts other animals to stay away.

All shapes and sizes

The Death Widow Spider is a diurnal insect that lives underground, usually in soil and sand, in mainly warm countries. It also acts in the roll of a king or queen. The spider is a very territorial animal, so if another animal wants its land, it will be eaten up within seconds. Don’t let this insect fool you.
