The Scorpion-ant

The Scorpion-ant

The scorpion-ant is considered as one of the most weird and interesting bugs ever to exist. Did you know that this species of ant can use it’s stinger as a spare leg? The reason why it has it’s ability of using it’s stinger as a leg is because it’s stinger used to be a leg which it inherited off of it’s parent scorpion, because it’s a hybrid of an ant and a miniature scorpion.

The first ever time that the scorpion-ant was discovered was in 2000 and is considered to be special because it was discovered in the year of the 2nd millennium. The skin pigment that the scorpion-ant can get is highly varied; these colours can range from:

  • Beige;
  • Burgundy;
  • Lime green;
  • Blood red;
  • Carmine red.

The scorpion-ant has a tail where it’s stinger is located. When the scorpion-ant uses its stinger it may come off and get stuck in the target’s skin and will eventually explode causing the target to disintegrate into carbon dioxide. After 3 weeks the scorpion-ant will have a new full grown stinger. If the scorpion-ant thinks it has mastered the moves of using its tail, it will use it’s stinger as a reserved leg to perform evasive maneuvers.
