 Creaky stairs

I have never climbed Mount Everest, but I have climbed up my creaky stairs.

I have never met the Queen, but I have seen a model of her at Madame Tussauds.

I have never fought in World War II, but I have fought my brother over the remote control.

I have never driven a Tesla but, I have ridden my bike down my street.

I have never jumped off a cliff but I have jumped off my bed.

I have never drunk lava but I have burnt my mouth on hot chocolate.

I have never written a full poem but I have now.

  1. Hi Olive, we really like your poem. You have got the idea of contrast really well. Fore example, in the first line, “I have never climbed Mount Everest, but I have climbed up my creaky stairs.” Both parts are about climbing, but the scale is completely different. You have repeated the word “climbed” twice. Do you think you could find an alternative verb to avoid repetition?

    Keep up the great work!
