Imagination

On my way home I met a girl called Imagination.

Her mind bursting with thousands of thoughts

Invading her brain like terrifying dreams,

Fighting their way into a sleepless night.

Her bright green eyes,

The colour of emeralds,

Were magnified in the light of the snow-white moon,

As rays of light streamed into her cave.

Her jade green eyes scanned the perimeter of the underground lair.

Her glimmering golden hair changed to the colour of roseate,

As she thought sunsets of magenta,

And doughnuts covered in rose coloured, cloudy icing.

Her eyes changed to the colour of sapphire blue,

As she thought of how the oceans depths would grow dark, come nightfall.

Finally she slept,

As she thought of peaceful rest,

In the land of imagination and dreams.

Where you can drink the orange sunset.

As it spilled down the sky in sweet, mango coloured waves.

  1. You have created some fabulous images Lexi. I especially like your description of Imagination ‘drinking the orange sunset’. The only image which jarred was the doughnuts, as this is a bit ‘ordinary’. Perhaps you could make the food more mystical?
