frostflowers
frostflowers blossom
like silver umbrellas
stretching out snow cold
roots freezing ground
like panels of ice on a frozen river,
pale petals yawn at sunset
like a cat after its midday nap
revealing a stash of golden pollen,
stems jut up as sharp as a knife
digging deep into crumbling
ground as cold as ice cubes,
leaves edged with frozen shards
grasping onto nearby stems
in the misty fog
