Moonorchids shine

like a ruby diamond,

swaying in the night sky

that calls to them.

Their brown roots

like thin spaghetti dig

into stiff soil

that crumbles

easily like cookies.

The green stem jumps up

like a jack in the box

scaring people.

Petals glow

like the glistening moon

that shines so bright

edged with silver, yawning

to reveal the secret stash

of silver pollen.
