glistening above all the insects.

It’s dark red roots,

like a ruby wire

digging into the hard soil.

The bright lime stem

With thorns sharper than swords,

protecting the pollen.

The Winter Nut Tree,

is a freezing tree

that you only find in the arctic.

Twigs thinner than a finger

like the stem of a flower,

but more fragile than a china vase.

Roots harder than a brick,

but they are like wire,

gripping onto the ground

tighter than a monkey holding a banana.
