Chapter 1-The evacuation

Finally, the time had come

That evening an envelope arrived with speed. The Gorm were only a few days away; they were rushed down to the bed chamber where their mother (Sally) gave them rations for the journey ahead of them. When they were about to leave into the tunnel behind the picture Arthur was pulled aside.

His Mother said “you need to keep Sarah and Samuel safe so take this.” It was a strange package in the shape of a sword “It is able to cut through any material except for iron. “Now hop along and alert the warrens that the Gorm is coming and they need reinforcements.”

Arthur took the lead through the cave as he was the eldest. It felt endless all they could see was rock and insects. After around 10 minutes in the cave Sarah and Samuel got really hungry and decided that they were going to snack on a radish that their Mom packed.

When they had finally spotted light they heard the deep scraping of iron armour. It was the Gorm had they found the secret tunnel? While waiting for the Gorm to leave Sarah heard some interesting information about their battle plan and that they were going to attack Sunbury warren ,which was where the band of fearless children had just come from, they needed to act fast to get reinforcements.

When the Gorm had left, the gang of rabbits darted out of the tunnel. However, it was night time and they were all really tired so Arthur used the steel sword his Mother gave him to cut off branches and made a hidden area between some tree roots. He also covered it with moss to make it nearly weatherproof and so no peering eyes could spot them.

That night they snacked on toast and cheese and sniffed at the glorious carrot cake their auntie had baked the day before. Samuel had cried himself to sleep because he was without his Mother whilst Arthur sat in fear of what the Gorm might do at home. Will they make it or get slaughtered by the Gorm?
