Cogheart-prologue and chapter 1
Prologue
Olivia gazed out of the golden window and watched the final meteorite shower of the season. She observed the shower as they flew closer to the blimp. Olivia heard her own heartbeat over all of the noise; it sounded like a giant’s footsteps strolling all over her.She sensed the fire as it followed the meteorite. Turning to her master, Olivia barked.”By all that ticks Harry it’s time for you to jump, humans before machanimals!”
Chapter one
Nudging the back door of River Academy for girls, Daisy Keyman peered across the playground. No one was in sight, and within a few seconds she dashed as fast as her legs could take her. Towards pebble Lane and freedom. At the end of the lane, she stopped leant against a big rock and took a breath. Again she opened the letter and read that her father Harri Keyman died in a terrible plane crash. His last words to her were so weird “make sure you save time”. She had laid in bed awake for countless nights thinking about what it meant.
At that moment she heard a loud bark coming from outside her window, “by all tocks you have been ticking a long time to get out of that appalling place.Said Olivia Give me a little wind-up will you? “I’ve used up a lot of energy escaping from these scallywags” Daisy grinned while winding up Olivia, she barked as a sign of joy.Her golden fur was somewhat signed from the blimp crash but overall she was in a fine form.
That afternoon Charlie was surprised to see Daisy and Olivia standing at the end of Haggle lane, the back of Townsend’s Horologists.”Of course it’s your mothers decorated clock” he said. Daisy painfully nodded her head. The clock was something her mother treasured. She had put it on her table next to her bed in Daisy’s bedroom. Many nights Daisy lain awake in bed watching the first hand go round and round, As steady as a drum beat. On the clock’s face there was a dog running after a ball, But the memory was still painful. “Sorry” Muttered Charlie as he looked at the floor.”He’s right” yapped Olivia, No time to lose” “we wont get to take a steam waggon back to celtic-bridge manor if we are late, and begin the search before some rascals lay their greasy paws on that clock! so lets go!”
