Chapter 3-The Escape… By Daisy Smith Y6

Chapter 3 – The Escape

A minute later, Hazel and Elena where stuck in an old garden shed guarded by mechanicals. A sudden idea came through her head, she whispered into Hazels ear “ I have a bag of Bobby pins in my pocket we can pick the lock with it. But we have to wait for the right time when the guards aren’t looking.” As Elena was reaching into her pocket slowly trying not to draw attention to herself, the pocket was empty there was nothing in there!

Hazel, didn’t have any hope after that. She thought that she was useless because she was a mechanical and their all bad. She filled with gloom and you could see it in her eyes they where black and scared. Looking into Elena’s and you can see a fire flaming in there, flames of hope and determination. The only thing she could think of is how useless she was “If a human has more determination than an animal that can get built back together. How useless and pathetic am I!” The only thing she wanted to do was sit there in a mood biting her nails looking innocent, helpless, pathetic and weak. Elena had all of Hazels hope she was looking everywhere for a way out some rotted wood that could get kicked or a clue that would lead us to the escape. It was like she was a kid that’s just eaten to much sugar and is bouncing off the walls hyper.

Hazel was muttering to herself “ It’s no use just give up, stop trying so hard” Elena just about heard what she was saying and got furious. She started talk and going on saying at least I’m trying not sitting there looking sad, and I’m sorry that I have hope that we have some way to get out this horrid, old, mouldy place. This is my father where talking about! They both knew that if they complete,y gave up and just sat there arguing with each other it would do them no good and take them a step back from what their trying to achieve. Arguing is just what those pesky little rodents want and if they get what they want this world will be falling out of its orbit.

Every so often, Elena would go and strop at Hazel then give up and go back to the sad window where she looked out hoping her father wasn’t actually dead hoping that she could do something and that a spark of ideas would come pass into her head. She started getting snappy and uncomfortable they where starving and they get angry when their hungry.

In the end it comes down to the door the rusty old metal door. Was there any way of unlocking it kicking it down? Elena pushed through her hair hoping that she left a bobby pin in there or a clip that she bend into shape so it go through the keyhole. All of a sudden, her eyes glowed “I’ve got it!” Her fingers layer on the cold metal of a pin. Even the sad gloomy animal smiled and her began to shine. Elena bent her pin and tried to slide it through the door without anyone noticing. The guards where charging so it was ok to move. Hazel stepped forward and for the 1st time tried to help. She closed her eyes and put her ear to the door ‘click’ the door was unlocking, ‘click’ there another it’s unlocking! The final click was a wonder. They tried opening the door and it took one hard press both of their strength put together.

All of a sudden, the guards woke up. “It was all a trap! Run!” Elena screamed they both ran into the moonlight. Figuring out the next bit of their terrible plan…
