Chapter 4

Lucja dreamed a salty scent drifted up her nose as she saw hot and fresh Polish dumplings that her grandma always cooked. On top of them was nice salty cooked onion and pork, which was delicious. Her empty belly growled ravenously. Lucja woke up with a jump and shock. A horse neighed and she put on her coat. She went out to her horse Astrid. Then they went for a long ride in the beautiful field. Lucja was cantering on Astrid with grace.
Artur was cleaning the stable. He had successfully cleaned out the hay. He lifted the statue of his horse Elvis in perfect symmetry and admired it.
Without hesitation, Lucja, Artur and Hunter dashed through the stable towards the forest road. The immense airship, like a silver suit of armour ready for battle, stood before them. Each of them swallowed a gulp of fear. Lucja chewed at the skin beside her nails. Hunter muttered in a shallow voice, “Ten minutes before take-off. We must do this, Miss Lucja.”
Lucja found a note. It had instructions on it. She grabbed it and gave it to the officer on board. With the wrong instructions, they flew away in the airship headed in completely the wrong direction. The airship crashed. The cliff hit the underneath of the ship, sending them spiralling downward.
An anguished groan came from behind as they found cover under the cement wall to watch the airship disappear. It was John! He was tied up. Lucja was able to rescue him. Luckily, she found a sharp knife in the ground and cut the thick ropes around his wrists. They fell away like samaras from a sycamore tree.
“I miss you so much, Lucja! I’m so sorry you have spent your childhood without a father. I hope your young like was fabulous, amazing and adorable.”
After a long day, Lucja and her father made it home. They lived a happy life in their beautiful, farm manor.
