Just The Little Things
It could be the sweet smell from the cookie
Jar waiting to bounce at you as you step out the
School building ready to sprint over the road
Like a lion chasing its prey.
It doesn’t have to be the pesky seagulls,
Striving for food on top of your roof, as its feather
Dances down gracefully onto the frost ground
And it’s ready to fly down viciously and steal
Your delicious food.
Be curious at the stock of tea bags
piled up in my cupboard while the
Water boils and steams as I settle down
On a cold night, ready to have a warm
Cup of tea as the sun tucks itself to sleep
And the rain drips off of the windows.
Just pay attention to the nipping days
Even in the summer where you
Can feel the cooling air, lurking sneakily
Around making the trees swish and the
Wind whistle.
