The Tigermander’s egg
Chapter 3
One week later, since our discovery of the tigermander, we sit calm and quiet in my little comforting cosy room with my fire going. Outside, the wind and the storm takes over the town and the sky. Inside, my room is warm relaxing and deserted. We sit on my sofa with the end up causing our feet and legs to go up too. We sit taking with a lovely cup of tea, which is my favourite hot drink. As the tea is warming up my hands, Ruby’s eyes widen. I look at her and hope that she will not say anything too crazy but I could tell that she was going to say something dangerous. She started to shake me.
“Right,” she said in my ear, “it is time for you to hear my brilliant plan!” I slap my face, and whisper away from her ,
“Oh no.”
One word of Ruby speaking, I already knew that she had been on the search without me! She has a video of it smashing a shop window on cameras; she claims that she thinks that she knows where it leaves and she found some fur that had been scraped off of the beasts back and a bit off its hoof. Also she says that she saw it leap off of the sea wall and when she looked down there it was gone and she even looked both ways but she still didn’t see it Ruby and me are beginning to believe that this thing is… magic.
As Ruby rushes me, I grab my coat and run after her trying to lock the thick heavy door with my coat half on. As I was rushing after her, I was trying to put on my warm thick coat.
“Hurry up we haven’t got all night!” she yells
“But we have got all day tomorrow!” I shout back. By the time I had put my coat on, she had already got onto the pebbly beach and I am still on the long walk way to Sandy Sea Café! She is wasting no time at all: a faint light beckoning us onto the beach.
“How on earth did she talk me into this.” I mumble There was a scream from the silky water.
As I saw some pieces of glass and bits of glass I started to believe Ruby: it had the same colour fur and the blue glass and the shop that it so say broke into was the only shop that had blue glass! I looked at Ruby- who was now next to me- and she had the look. The look of danger she grabbed my arm and said, “Come on cippity chop!” as we got closer we saw: black fur; some blood; and blue glass we walked towards a cave, what was tomb-like we walk in
I am now getting dragged by Ruby in the cave we look around. It looks like the cave was made out of solid gold we sneak round the huge system I started to think: the holes might not some caves they might be a home! We ran back but we seemed to of got lost on the way. We ran left. But at the end there is a large nest! Also inside was the fur! It wasn’t teared off the creature it was pulled off by it! We looked in the nest.
“Wow,” I whispered, “is that”
“Yes” she replied. There it was. A large egg! It was magnificent it looked like it had writing on it like from the carvings in the Egypt tombs. It looked like when the beast had been stood still waiting to strike when it was scraping the floor, in the pier. There was a crack! It was hatching
“R Ruby.” I stutter, “I think we should leave like right now!” I desperately tug Ruby’s sleeve hoping she would agree but she stood there watching the brown egg like it was a magnet!
“If you did not know mothers are very protective of their eggs so we should go.” As I keep tugging her sleeve our only source of light fades away I turn not seeing a thing. There is scratching- which I recognise- from the pier!
“Hello,” I say “this isn’t funny.” Suddenly, blue eyes appear out of the darkness. The light returns. Where did it go I wonder. It appears again. Ruby steps back; I run out of the creatures home.
