Question Poem

What are slow?

A small, slimy creature with a shell as it slithers across my back garden, me creeping down the stairs at 5:00 am and a poor ant after my mum poisoned it.

What are fast?

The quick spinning of a Boeing’s 747 engine as it powers through the blue sky, the crippling of the Russian economy and a cheetah on a slow treadmill.

What are loud?

The sound of the sun in billions of years when it explodes and destroys the solar system, the fans on my dad’s PC as I turn it on and the English crowd after Pickford saves a goal.

What are quiet?

The sound of loneliness, a tree shrew as it spies on the bad-tempered bearded pigs and a single tear drop hitting the floor.

What are big?

A child’s imagination, the strength of Ukraine and the sticks in the school forest.

What are small?

My auntie and uncle’s dog, Vladimir Putin’s heart and the poor Ukrainian’s voices.
