A letter to mummy!

Dear Mummy,

Thanks for the sandwich it was so nice. I ate it on the way. After a couple hours we finally arrived at Northampton. It a small town outside of Northamptonshire.

Once we got there, loads of people came and chose which kids they want. I got left to last no-one wanted me. I think it’s because I looked very dirty.

Anyway I’m staying at Mrs.Karen house in Stroud it’s a little small stone house. The water comes from the closest river. She makes me wake up at 6am every morning to take a shower in the tub outside. She wouldn ’t let me in the house till I was scrubbed clean. Then she gave me a lovely hot cuppa. She talks with a funny voice but we get along right well.

I only have a little room in the attic and I get a small portion of food every day. I’m always starving she’s not nice. I hear owls screeching every night and it’s so annoying.

Guess what you won’t believe me Mrs.Karen keeps a little chicken in a very small wooden shed. She makes me do so many chores it tires me out but at least I get a nice sleep. My favourite chore is locking up the chicken before the fox’s eat it.

There is a tiny village on top of a hillside. There are only about 30 houses. They have these little pathways that criss-cross between the houses. They are called ‘laggers ’ and each one has its own name.

Every morning, Mrs.Karen sends me off to the little school. I carry my gas mask like I promised.  It’ s only one minute ’ s walk up the lane. Lots of us go there. I’ m trying right hard with my handwriting.

I hope you and Ben are alright Mum. I think about you every day. I hope our Dad is alright.
PLEASE write to me soon.
