Jo, Jenny and Jayne.
Dear Ma,
I hope you are well. I really miss you. The journey home was awful, all I could hear was the whimpers and cries from my friends. I sat next to Dylan, he fell asleep instantly, of course I couldn’t.
After what seemed like weeks, we arrived in Cornwall. I said goodbye to Dylan and wished him the best of luck with his new family. I caught a quick glimpse of his family. There was a lady, a man, a little boy about his age and a cute little dog.
Finally, my new family collected me. I lived with 3 lovely ladies, their names were: Jo, Jenny and Jayne. Jayne was obsessed with her running, so she made us all run home. The house was lovely, it was a sort of beige colour. It was made of bricks, but it had a lovely view from the top of the house!
I walked in, expecting to see an empty room just for me, but no, my room had lots of presents, just waiting to be unwrapped. I grinned. Jo called up for me. Dinner was ready. Macaroni cheese (you’re favourite), maybe when this war is over, we can go out for dinner and have it together. After dinner, Jenny gave me a book and told me to go up and read for a bit and then go to sleep, after all I had school the next morning.
6:00 am I woke up. Jo showed me to the garden and told me all the jobs I had to do. I now lived on a farm, so there would be lots of stuff I would need to do. I collected the eggs from the chickens, shovelled the mess away, made their beds, combed the horses fur and hey I was done. Jo did all the bigger stuff, like the cows and all.
I was really lucky because I got scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast. Yummy! Next, I ran to school, I did one mile! I was very impressed. School was great, Mr Jenkins put me in the same class as Dylan and all my friends. Mr Jenkins taught me how to write a really good story and he taught me how to do long multiplication! At the end of school, Dylan told me about his family. The dog came up and jumped on his bed in the morning, he was called Ted. He also had a lady and man that looked after him and they had a son called Dennis. He was certainly having a good time.
After school, I ran back home with Jayne. She was very impressed with my running she’d told me. Then, Jenny and I started working on a play called ‘Alice in Wonderland’. It’s basically about a girl who falls down a hole and discovers a cool new land with talking animals! Jenny says in a few weeks we can perform it in my class, she also invited all my friends over, including Dylan and Dennis to help.
I’ve had a lovely first day and I can’t wait for tomorrow.
I really miss you.
Speak soon,
Donna
