letter to mum
Dear mum,
Things haven’t been the same since the war, first dad died then i left home. Now i live with aunt may and my cousin Jake, me and Jake help out around the cottage as may as i call her has type one diabetes so she has to take lots of medication some people say she is on her death bed but i don’t understand what that is but if you are wondering what it is like here let me tell you. I am staying in a small village mostly made out of stone and wood, almost everyone has chickens and pigs but not may. Unfortunately she is poor and can’t afford chickens but she is saving up to get one or two. Ever since i got here days blur together because of this i have lost count of how many days or week’s i have been here all i know is i miss you and ginger.
I miss the way ginger would huddle up in a ball and pur all day long. I miss your amazing cooking and how it would warm my heart on a cold winter’s night. I miss your welcoming smile so bright. I miss how ginger would escape at random but always came back the list could go on forever but right now what I miss most of all is you.
Unfortunately it is with a heavy heart that Hannah didn’t make the trip she passed on shortly after leaving. She died of a broken heart and that was the reason i have avoided writing for so long. I am so sorry mum I couldn’t bring myself to tell you earlier but i knew you would be devastated.
