When the cat creeps out
When the cat creeps out
Hello, my name is Lucy and I am eleven years old, I am in year six.it is the 2nd June 1929 and I’m an evacuee from WWII . I have an annoying little sister called Amelia, she is in year four and is nine years old. She says that she can get away with anything because she is the youngest but she knows she cant. My mother is back in Bolton and my dad is fighting in the war, my big sister Natalie who moved to Looe after she was 23 is looking after me. My sister and I had to move to a little village called Looe in the countryside of Cornwall because of the war.
I am being homeschooled by my sister, but she changed a room in her house into a schooling room. It looks boring but it’s quite fun. I do things that are much harder for my little sister. She only does addition and subtraction whereas I do fractions, decimals and percentages. We also do writing and spelling, my sister is good at that- so am I. She is just stuck on spelling ‘accessibility’ but I help her with it. We do art and we share a large sheet of paper and paint. She spilled paint on my canvas when we were doing separate art and she blamed it on me!
But, I was sleeping once, and jolted awake to a loud bang of a door slamming. I looked outside to see my sister outside with a baggy cloak on, she was walking down the street and suddenly turned into the forest and disappeared out of sight. It was late so I got into bed and stared at the ceiling for hours on end. I couldn’t fall asleep, It was that morning before my birthday when I woke up and asked her where she went that day, she ignored me.
That night she told me to get my coat on and come outside with her, this was very early in the morning when the sun hadn’t come up she led me down the road right at the place I saw her disappear. I heard the leaves rustle. There was a bush with soft leaves around it. I saw a little gap where the leaves were and then I jumped when I heard my sister whistle. I noticed a pair of pastel blue eyes and a small and scared face appeared, it was a kitten! My sister told me the cat’s name. Its name is Roxy. She was born two weeks and two days ago. The cat crept out with giant black pupils on its eyes and it crawled onto me and she was brushing her body onto my shoe. I leaned in to hold her and she was rolling round and eventually fell asleep in my arms. We were there for half an hour when my sister asked me if I wanted to take little Roxy home with us.
