Chapter 1 by TC Y6

Let me introduce you to Mia, Leo and Frankie. All of their parents had been flattened like a pancake due to the S.M.A.L.L.S. The S.M.A.L.L.S, Small Men and Little Ladies Slaughtering, were two cities who joined each other and started to murder others for more respect. Now, Mia, Leo and Frankie were all alone in the forest, and they had had enough of being hunted down. Seeing that they were only 9/ 9 1/2 they wanted to have their own little gang, so they decided to call themselves ‘The Scavengers’. Being the smallest, Mia had to go round the large towns collecting anything that they could eat, even if it was risky. Frankie collected anything that could make something, whether it’s clay, leaves, animal skins or wood, she’ll grab it and put it in her many bags. Leo had the most amazing eye-sight, with the help of his binoculars, and he usually climbed to the top of emerald green trees and looked out for either his friends or any strangers and informed the other members of The Scavengers about them. They also had two Horses, Snowbolt and Moonshine. Both were female, and were a pearly-white colour (More comanly known as Cremello, but the children didn’t know that).

Frankie had made yet another rope to lead the horses around, after Snowbolt kept on chewing the old, freying ones. As she tied them onto their muddy, brown head collars, Moonshine stamped her foot at the sight of Leo picking apples. “Greedy mare-” Leo grunted, throwing one to Mia so she could feed the milky-white horse. As Moonshine happily munched on the ruby red apple, Frankie tied Snowbolt to a post that she made, pulling the rope with as much force as she could so that Snowbolt wouldn’t try to run away. Suddenly, there was a faint rumble, but as time went on it got louder and louder. “What is that?” Mia asked, looking up at the smoke grey sky. Leaves rustled as Leo climbed a tree, his binoculars attached to his shorts. The girls waited a moment or so, before hearing Leo panic-strucken voice. “Whatever it is, it’s looking straight at me..” Leo said. As quick as a flash, Frankie put the carrying bags on both horses, but putting more on Moonshine as Snowbolt carried Mia on her back. Mia hopped up onto the post and jumped onto Snowbolt, grabbing the rope that would steer her. Leo jumped down from the tree and picked up his stuff. The only thing they could do was run…
