Chapter 3

With a blink of an eye, six dark shadows appeared. Suddenly, a huge shadow came strolling into frame, it was the gang of weasels and their leader. The leader was albino with warriors ready to fight behind him. Cautiously, they all bowed down because in the troops hand was a knife with metal prongs sticking out from the sides. The weasel swung the knife, which made the little rabbits scream with fright. After the rabbits alerted the mischieves, they came galloping over. They were ready to fight.

With the sound of clanking armour and squeaking rats, the rabbits hurried away as fast as the little rabbits legs could go. They ran away from the danger behind them and carried on to safety.

After many gruelling hours of travelling non stop onwards, their feet were aching. Peter carried Paint as they trudged on forward. ”We need to find somewhere to stop soon. This is getting ridiculous,” said Peter,” we can’t go on forever.” Relieved, Pearl found a forest with a three bedroom burrow a few steps away.

Pulling back the leaves from the door, Pearl peared inside. One after another they jumped in to find themselves pulling cobwebs from their face and clothes. Not long after, the rabbits collapsed on the floor in one big bundle. Several minutes later, they woke up to the noise of other rabbits running away from the Gorm and their pet rats. Aware of the danger, they didn’t risk putting a fire on. Instead, Peter put together a simple dinner of dandelions, kale and river water that they collected on the way.

Sitting together, all of a sudden Pearl jumped up in excitement remembering what her father gave them before they left. Pearl reached into her backpack carefully retrieving the present that was perfectly wrapped. They all squealed with happiness, hoping that it would be something that would help them fight the Gorm and rats off. It was long and light. Staring at it, they wondered what it could be and why it was so important that father risked his life to give it to us.

Unfolding the last bit of cloth, their eyes lit up to see a brown dagger covered in rust. “Well this is useless, why did he make out that it was so important?” A piece of an old map fell to the floor, Paint eagerly grabbing it and reading out loud. “Voltage: finds a threat and can come back if you throw it at an enemy, and kind hearted people can only use it.”  “Ahhhggg that’s why it is so special,” said Peter. “Now we might actually be able to beat the Gorm and rats.”

After a sound night’s sleep, the rabbits gathered their things and set off to Crystal Lake. They didn’t have far to go, only through a field full of farmers’ crops. At the end of the field they discovered a problem. A whole army of Gorm was gathered around the lake.
