Chapter 3
The summer holidays stretched ahead like city traffic. Every day Daisy would go out to the forest to enjoy the forest breeze and to see the beast Daisy checked to see if there was anyone watching then wandered off into the forest realizing that the streams was full of life, trees and fields had come more familiar than the city houses. Unlike the city the place was all green full of nature poppies, green bushes that smelled like cherry blossoms and oak trees shimmering in the warm wind. The meadows were scattered with the glossiest lavender (flower) matching with the olive grass while the grass swayed with the wind.
Late at night, I went to visit the beast in the middle of the night hearing scraping noises while I traveled through the woods. Sometimes we played or sat down and gaze at the moon’s stars as they glowed in the darkness of the forest. Sometimes he (the beast) would hear rustling noises and he would be off. Sometime they would a barn owl swiftly flying while they then eventually got tired and flew off back to the home of the old oak tree.
Every night, when I visited the beast I would always get scared that someone would eventually follow me and the secret would be out that I was taking care of the beast and also visiting him because it doesn’t take too long for a person just to look out a window to see a girl wondering out of her place to stay and just run after her as she wasn’t the fastest runner on the street but in her mind she thought that his fur was black as the black hole while being sucked into it so he was camouflaged with the mud.
One day it happened though, one night just before school had started again I was making my way through the woods when I heard a loud scream and growls being shouted in the distance. Then realized it was the beast he had now remembered that sounded like the beast he stampeded through a bush that I thought was ordinary but was actually full of poison ivy. His teeth were show his mighty gare on his eye as if he looked like he was ready to pounce out at me. A few feet away from me I saw her there. Mrs Jackson standing there in shock “Da… Daisy.” Mrs Jackson shouted out like she was trying to wake up the whole neighborhood.
“Don’t move,” I said in my quietest whisper, catching the beast’s glare. His hand held out offering her a fresh caught rabbit. I then talked in my smoothest voice and set the rabbit free. Mrs Jackson fled right back into the house. I could hear the stumbling noises. My heart was thudding faster than a lion’s speed.
Now the secret was out. When I finally arrived back home Mrs Jackson talked long into the night. Maybe we could move the beast into a different place, maybe one that has more nature and his type of animals. We could drop him off at Strawberry Hill only 4 valleys away and he could live there undisturbed.
