Leaving the Warren
Chapter 1 – Leaving the Warren
Finally they were ready to leave…
At noon, the emergency horn, which was made from a goat, was blown ferociously. The Garg were minutes away from the American Blue Warren. Despite the large population at American Blue Warren, it was old and would not survive a large
attack. Especially not from The Garg. It was built many Carrotfeasts ago; every day repairs were needed. Many American Blue Rabbits had moved away to other warrens because of the appalling condition of American Blue Warren.
So it was the three little rabbits, Podkin, who was the chieftain of American Blue warren’s son, Pasco, who was the eldest of the three, and pickle, who was only eighteen months old. Their journey would take a few weeks, going up Mountain peaks, travelling through the Gloomiest woods in the whole of the carrot universe, and would take a boat around the other side of dinosaur island and would pull in at Seaside Warren. They had planned their journey perfectly until they looked at an updated map and realised that Seaside Warren had been abandoned in the last six months! They quickly re-planned their journey, this time going to Pinkwater Warren.
Luckily, Pinkwater Warren is only two and a half miles away from the remains of Seaside Warren. They would cross the bridge of the three way river and would have to hike up snowyhills mountain range. At this point in their journey they would still be days away from their destination. Luckily, Pinkwater Warren was the most protected warren out of the 12 original warrens that were created. It was very large and most of its rooms were engraved within the mountain side. Once they reached Pinkwater Warren they would be safe.Their mother had packed an ancient map with many old paths that only rabbits know about.
Grasping the ancient map as tight as possible, the three young rabbits adventured through the gloomy woods, around dinosaur island and was soon at the south west side of carrotland, they dashed over the crashing waves of the three way river.Minutes later, they were sceptically strolling through a light up tunnel, searching for the quickest way out. Soon after, they found themselves hiking up Snowyhills mountain range, just as they had planned. When they reached the top, they overlooked Pinkwater Warren, which was at the foot of the mountain. Slowly, they began making their way down the mountain. Trailing behind Pasco, Podkin and Pickle followed their older sister. Podkin made going down the hill a game but soon he felt pickle becoming very cold. Podkin and Pasco decided to set up camp in a dent ,within the mountain. It was a sloped design. They covered the shelter with sticks and leaves and packed any gaps with damp moss.Podkin began a fire with flint and the three rabbits instantly began to feel warm and cosy.
Later that night, They ate freeze-dried mango, rice cakes and nibbled on potato skins that their mother had packed them. Pickle was up late throwing pine cones around their hut. Podkin dragged pine branches over the entrance, hoping it would keep unwanted searchers, like the Garg.
Whilst Pasco drifted to sleep, her mind was full of memories of the three rabbits with their beloved parents, playing around American Blue warren. Would they ever see their parents again
