Chapter 2 A Warning Disobeyed

“I am Jack Spirit, the owner of these sacred objects,” the man said, glaring Kya in the eye.
“Wow, that’s amazing,” replied Kya, embarrassed how she’d talked to him before he introduced himself.
” This is my owl from the northern artic, his name is Marty, do not touch him either,” he continued.
“You may , quietly, look around my shop but you must not touch my book of echo’s.” he clearly explained, and vanishing into the dusky air. Kya’s mouth gasped with shock!
“This room is no place for a little girl,” echoed a mysterious voice. Marty looked at Kya in disapproval.

Once the owner had left, she stared at the mini model of the pyramids all lined up in a rose red corner. Canons hung from the ceiling looking like it was going to fall into Kya’s head. Sand sprinkled out of a metal shoot. A mustard yellow carpet lay on the wooden planks. Marty’s claret coat caught Kya’s eye. But she was attracted to the book. Her head was daring her to at least touch it. Why was she not allowed to even look at it? Maybe another day. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe now.

She opened it. Kya just couldn’t stand the echo’s in her head. She opened the book and saw many little flaps of doors had just awoke from a great sleep. She touched one of them with brightly coloured shapes and slowly opened it. Kya’s face lit up. A golden gleam came bounding out, as Mr Spirits voice whispered a magical idea. Her mouth opened with amazement. Marty hooted like an alarm for Mr Spirit.

Without thinking, Kya flicked through looking for a empty door. Finally, she found one. The next thing Kya knew was she was whispering her greatest dream. Peace filled all over the page and her greatest thought was alive! She looked at what she had whispered. It was a beautiful seaside in Scotland were her Dad was put to rest. Kya had wanted to go there and it as finally going to happen. Marty landed her shoulder and stared down.

Kya closed the book and headed through one of the corridors which went on and on. Marty was still on her shoulder, his claret cape flowing in the breeze. The wind was brushing through Kya’s short brown hair. He flew off and landed in front of lilac door with a yellow, wooden knob with a blue flower on it. Sweat dripped down her for-head . She stood in front of the door and reached out and pulled down the knob. Kya stood amazed at what was in front of her eyes, her dreams.

She stepped through the door and found herself not in a room but in dream. It was identical to the page that she had spoken too. A salty tang arose in Kya’s mouth and the feeling of the waves were cresting in her stomach. Instead of a nervous butterflies, it was souring robins making her feel excited. Lanterns hung on the trees and reflected with a golden colour beaming through the water. This astonishment scolded her as she started to hum Sea Shanties. The waves overlapped Kya’s toes. Out in the distance was mountains, huge ones, the ones she had been dreaming of. As big as four elephants. This what she had always wanted. Peace.
