The Timid Tawny Owl By Rosie
Sensitively, the timid tawny owl scanned the world like predator pursuing for it’s prey.
Her claws clinging on the elm bark,
terrified of the threatening land beneath,
she shook.
Wings spreading,
she flew, from tree to tree
like a monkey in the Amazon.
Feathers forming a fabulous pattern as the wings shut,
she bounced from place to place,
as fluently as a fearless doe.
A tiny beak peeks out,
Preening the besmirched fur,
Then hiding in again.
She peered down one last time at her hunters.
And then she was dead.
