Cat, Cat Brandon

Cat, Cat

Cat, cat,

Why run so fast through the midnight black forest?

Cat, cat,

Hunting in the wild through the night

what prey do you seek?

Cat, cat,

What are your limits of high jumping?

what is your new height?

Cat, cat,

Your claws shine the sun’s reflection

what will be scratched next?

Cat, cat,

Why do you purr when you are happy and relaxed?

One Response to “Cat, Cat Brandon”

  1. Brandon, your poem about cats is wonderful! I really like the way you describe their behavior and physical characteristics, and I think the questions you ask at the end are intriguing.

Something I like about this poem is the way you describe the cat’s behavior, such as “Why run so fast through the midnight black forest?” and “Hunting in the wild through the night / what prey do you seek?” This helps to create an image of the cat in the reader’s mind.

To improve, it might be helpful to consider adding more sensory details to the poem to help paint a clearer picture. For example, you could describe what the forest smells like, or how the cat’s fur feels as it runs through the underbrush.

I would love to know what inspired you to write this poem about cats? Are you a cat person yourself, or do you have a cat that you find fascinating?
