Fish-Hanger Benjamin SWW
Fish-hanger, sea-glider,
who dares to take your colour
like a thief?
Puffin, puffin,
where is your second mate,
who ought to free you
from your birth place?
Puffin, puffin,
why are you so courageous,
flying through the salty air?
Puffin, puffin,
How dare you let the darkness
engulf your bill like a hurricane?
What a beautiful opening Ben. I love this first verse best- I can see in my mind a picture of puffins from last Springwatch where they filmed puffins landing and waddling into their burrows with their precious catch for their young. Lovely writing showing that you really understand the importance of creating that picture in words for your reader!
