chapter 1
It was a very rainy night in April. The rain was battering down and soaking the street.
The street lights where the only thing that kept the street from going pitch black.
Walking through it was scary enough and seeing the shadows in the dark corners made it
Ten times worse. Anything could be hidden in there.
Gerard Small tried to ignore the continues rain. He was staring
Ahead at the checkpoint. He pulled his ragged coat closer and shivered
As a gigantic dollop of rain swept him off his feet and fell on to the hard concrete of Marr alley.
He could see the guard checking peoples ID’s,
sending most of them back from the border between
The village and the rest of Troon, where the much richer and larger houses were.
“Next,” screamed the guard, stamping his feet. He held out
A disgusting hand with cuts and blood all over but Gerard still gave him the ID.
“Wich way are you headed, young man?” He asked Gerard in a peculiar voice.
“I’m taking some antiques to a customer for my family,” Gerard replied starting to sweat.
The guard sniffed and slightly nodded his head signalling for him to go through.
A moment later, Gerard was strolling through the rich part of town still
Trying to wipe the sweat off. Here the streets were wider, shop lights
Flickered and chattered as if they had no care in the world. Gerard dreamed of being like
Them and not a foreigner in his own land.
Taking a short cut down Guinness alley, Gerard ducked his head scared to catch anyone’s attention.
Head down, stay out of trouble. His family had engraved that phrase into his mind so
He would always stay as safe as possible.
He Spinden round as a man that he knew nothing about.
Rapidly approached, grabbing him by the hair and tugged him
Into the dark corners at the far side of the alley.
“Hi pal, empty your pockets now,” he said. Gerard took out
The parcel and the man snatched it off of him. There was a moment of silence.
Then the robber reached into his pocket and pulled out a five pound note.
Gerard ducked down, kicked the man in the gut and ran down the alley.
But Gerard was blocked by a massive brick wall.
The man’s shadow cast down the walls getting closer
And closer to Gerard. He was cornered the robber was going
To get him. He was sure this was going to be his last moments he closed his eyes.
But then he heard a scream the man was no longer the and some sort of creature was there.
