Chapter 0ne

It was a sunny morning in july.The sun was gleaming down with happiness.The street looked like a dance party.

Mila Edgington danced in the sun. She was walking to the checkpoint.She took her checked cardigan off and she walked through Queen Alley staring at the trashy floor.

She could see guards checking people. The guard sent a person back for eating sweets. People were staring at the train.

“Who’s next,”he shouted as loud as he could. His hand raised up to Mila’s face. Mila gave the guard her ticket ”little girl where are you going?” he whispered not taking a single eye off Mila making sure she was safe.

“I am bringing some books for my mother” Mila replied with one big grin on her face.The guard pushed Mila forward.

A minute later, Mila was walking up Fire Road.The streets were louder.The people were dancing all around and babies were crying. Mila wished she was not a foreigner.

Taking a walk up Silver way, Mila didn’t make eye contact with anyone. Just so she doesn’t get in trouble. Her dad always made a sad face when she got in trouble.

She turned away with a sigh and saw a girl that she had never seen before. The girl grabbed Mila’s hand and brought her to the side of a bin.

“Let me have that thank you,” she said in a bully voice grabbing the books “and any other things you have” added the girl. Mila slapped her and ran away but there were millions of people blocking her.

The lady’s shadow looked like it was going towards Mila.The shadow seemed to get closer every minute. Mila was so shocked, she could see her arm reaching out. Suddenly she spotted a strange door, and a minute later she was hiding behind it.
