Chapter 1- Delivery

It was a foggy night in October. The fog drifted down the streets of London. Some of the streetlights were unlit, making dark shadows appear around the roads. Sam pulled his coat over his face as the men he walked past smoked their cigars.

The dark clouds hid the moon over the rich houses. The checkpoint was busy. Apart from the guards shouting and shooing people away. It was quiet. The soldiers viewed the passes and ripped most of them up. Sam was nervous. “Next!” The guard shouted.

Sam walked up to the checkpoint, shaking. “So boy.” He said, “Are you from around here?” “Yes.” Stuttered Sam, “I was born and raised in London. But my parents are from South Africa.” The guard rolled his eyes, “Do you have the papers?” “Yeah.” Sam said, “Here.” The guard read them over. “In you go.” Shouted the guard, “And don’t even think of causing any trouble!” Sam nodded and walked through.

The London streetlight glowed like stars but Sam couldn’t stay and watch, he had a package to deliver. As he got closer to his destination the streets got thinner and dark.

It was the year 2542 but there was no police robots around these parts. Sam shivered and kept his head low. But, he couldn’t help but notice the man walking closer. Sam sped up but so did the man and before he could react he was grabbed and thrown into a long alleyway.

“Give me everything on you!” Shouted the strange man, “Or you can die early!” Sam was frozen, “SOMEONE PLEASE, HELP ME!” The man came closer and closer until. BAM! Sam had stolen the man’s knife and sliced his arm open. Sam ran. Faster than fast. The man went speeding after him. Sam ran around corners and jumped over fences but it was no good. The man was still hot on his trail.

Sam hit a dead-end. “Nowhere to run now foreigner boy!” Sam was dead! He was sure of it. But in the corner of his eye his saw a small hatch behind a pile of rubbish and ducked inside and in a flash. He was in.
