Chapter 3
The next morning, Shara was tasked with rigorously investigating more around Julius’ ship. After carefully examining every crevice of the skyship, She eventually became extremely bored with her job. She sat inside the ship, staring blankly down at dirtied shards of wood. Something seemed to click in her. No one had seen or heard from Cole since the night before. She genuinely felt overwhelmed with worry as she rushed around the camp ; he wasn’t there. Shara wandered around the island, she reassured herself that she would find him.
She trekked over uneven land, but she eventually spotted something. There were parallel gashes embedded inside the bark. Shara trembled, a deafening roar came from just behind her. She turned to face a scaled beast ( Which stood on two legs.). It looked down to her with its emerald irises. “ Do not worry. I will not harm you.” a low, croaky voice spoke. It sounded threatening, yet kind. The alligator turned, silently signalling Shara to follow along.
It had taken her to a swampy area, one filled with small, lush patches of crimson flowers. Another tall reed-alligator pottered limply over.It looked down at her judiciously. “ Cave-beasts are near. You must take this.” He handed her a small, smooth stone. It radiated with a sort of soothing light. From behind the Reed-alligator, Cole and a plump man wandered over to Shara. It was Julius Monatage! Shara’s face was now one of relief.
After a while of walking, the three explorers had found their way back to the temporary camp they had set up the day before. Captain Heidi’s original frown of worry had then metamorphosed into a bright smile as she glanced over to the returning trio. Before Cole or Julius could say anything, Shara had interrupted Captain Hugehorn and recounted the crew of the unexpected warning the Alligator had told.
Moments after, Heidi Prepared everyone to set sail. Shara redrew the rope ladder back by every individual step. Some of the crew expanded the Kesir’s sails and others dragged the anchor back. An ear-piercing screech emitted from the horizon. It was too late.
