Dragon Poem
The Dragon pauses,
as still as a statue.
Its eyes like a lost soul,
slowly drifting into space.
Its tail curling around the treasure
like a mother, guarding its young.
The dragon’s claws slowly
begin to seep into the earth’s core.
Its rusted teeth grinding against
each other like nails on a chalk board.
It scales hard and leathery
like a biker’s jacket.
The dragon’s claws slowly
begin to seep into the earth’s core.
Whilst the crystal-clear wings begin catching the uplift
it swoops into the sky like a plane preparing for take-off.
Leaving only a fiery trail, a shimmer of fear no chance of hope.
Mrs Simpson:
This is a powerful poem Sophie. I think your last stanza works particularly well, though I think another comma before ‘no chance of hope’ would be an effective addition. Also, I think one of your verses is repeated; did you mean to do this?
