Chapter Three

A paw? A body? Something strange? I gazed at the unknown animal in awe and fear. All of a sudden, I noticed something. It made a noise. A meow more like. It was a cat! Shona screamed and hid behind a bush. “W-what …is that?!” The look on her face suggested that she had never seen a cat before. Suddenly, just as I was about to say something, the cat did something. It glowed! A warm golden glow. “ What’s it doing?” Shona questioned.” I don’t actually know. But it feels nice. Sort of tingly. “ I added. I laughed as the beautiful golden cat rubbed against my tired leg. I stared closely. “Wait! Its leg looks like it’s hurt! “

Shona, whose tail was slipping and sliding behind her, hurried herself into a huge storeroom full of chests and barrels and rifled around for what she was looking for. Hair standing on end, she rushed back to Emily as soon as she had found what she was searching for. Emily raised her eyebrows in surprise as Shona slivered past her at the strange thing she had found. Shona slid onto the filthy floor and held out the catnip to the purring ginger cat. Slowly, she enticed it onto the deck and it disappeared down the stairs.

“Get the pillow ready!” Shouted Emily at me. I slivered off immediately. What was Emily thinking? Didn’t she know this bizarre creature could scratch us at any minute or escape when we weren’t looking? “It can sleep and eat on the pillow!” Emily yelled. So nevertheless, I pulled myself together and rushed off to the storeroom to get a pillow.
