My Malamander Story

Prologue

You’ve probably been to Dark Bay and never known about it. You might have gone for a holiday or a day out. As soon as you arrived, you would see deckchairs with people sunbathing on the, an ice cream with ice cream that melted in two minutes and small rock pools with children in them looking for shells. Why? Why you never knew about going there? Thats because then it was known as Bright Bay.

But in winter, you would feel the cold strong wind hit you face and ice cold rain would fall on your head violently. You should go when the streets are frozen and covered in thick luxurious snow. Very few people visit then. Most locals stay away from the beach, some locals carry warnings and some stay quiet as if keeping a secret.

Chapter One

My name is Mellisa Melon most people call me Mel. I work at the seaside bakery. I am the backer assistant I help Mrs Cupcake (the backer), I take the customers orders and clean at the end of the day. People say I should get a better job, but I like it. In summer we get lots of visitors, but in the winter we get very few. I have a little room upstairs. I have a fire that keeps me warm at night, but I get lonely so I close my eyes and try to fall asleep.

Suddenly I hear a tap then again slightly louder this time I look around and see a girl at the window. I quickly run up towards it and pull it open there is snow in her hair her feet are wet and her lips are purple from the cold. She immediately shouts “Hide me!”

Before I carry on there is a story I should probably tell you. It happens really long ago. It is a story about a creature called the sharkmander half shark half man. Legends say it only comes out when the sun is not out. Some people think it kills sailors, but some say it takes them to its underwater fortresses between the seaweed and now only skeletons are left of them. Some very abstract people think it leaves footprints on the beach that are washed away by the sea.

“What Where Why When How?” I say “Just do it please.” She begs. I look around and stuff her in the biggest cake box I can find. I hear footsteps so I stand in front of it like nothing happened.
