snuffle buffle

This creature is a rare species of bird. It has pale sky blue skin with a pale skin tone belly.  A rainbow tail stickers out from under its body like a fluffy bush. Its wings stick out from the body as it glides through the air like an airplane in the sky. Its diet are small bugs and creatures that live in the rainforest. In the winter it stores nuts and plants to snack on while they hibernate. It lives in small holes in trees in the rainforests of the world. Its wings are as soft as cotton and help the majestic creature glide through the air. Even though it looks cute this animal is very deadly. It has claws that can dig through metal and teeth as sharp as pincers. It has big blue eyes that it has a special ability to see in the dark and sense the prey in the day and use the heat vision to see the prey in the dark dense forest.. It also has the ability to camouflage in the forest, this comes in handy to hide from predators that hunt this species of creature. Snuffle buffles are only the size of a water bottle which comes in handy so they can fit anywhere. It uses the small hairs sticking out from its wings and tail to shoot at predators if being threatened or disterbed. The snuffle buffle only gives birth in spring so the eggs keep warm. Did you know that snuffle buffles can lay up to 50 eggs at a time. Those eggs are the size of pebbles and it takes up to 3 weeks for the eggs to hatch. When the eggs hatch the mother leaves the nest and lets the young learn how to fly by themselves. Did you know that it takes baby snuff buffles 3 days to fly. While the snuffle buffles learn to fly they rely on each other to help them. When the finally do fly the snuffle buffles stay together until they are adults they leave to go mate (usually in the summer then hibernate in the winter).

Wigglebanger report by Anabelle

The Wigglebanger is one of the most extraordinary and friendly insects. It is found in exotic places like Hawaii and Croatia. If it is in cold weather it may only survive for a few minutes. It’s name is right because it can wiggle into small places and when being chased by a predator it can make a surprisingly loud bang for it’s size which scares the predator and gives the Wigglebanger time to run.

Thorax, legs, wings and sting

The body of this species has vivid green and pink stripes on it’s body. If it’s being attacked it can make it’s stripes poof out to make it look bigger. It is shaped like a caterpillar but just a little but bigger. It’s wings are translucent and change colour when the sunlight hits them. The wings are attached to the body in the middle of it’s back. They have a pattern on the wings that looks a but like a honeycomb pattern. They have 6 legs that have little tiny hairs on them. There legs have to be small so they can fit in small places and are only half a centimetre long. On there bottom they have a sting that has poisonous venom in it and if your stung by it it could be fatal. Unlike a bee the Wigglebanger can sting someone or something however many times in it’s life it wants.

Eyes, mandibles, Antennae’s and feelers

This species has 2 eyes that are fully black. They have good night vision as they are nocturnal. They can see for nearly 20metres in the dark! The mandibles are black and like the legs they have small black hairs on them. But these hairs are sticky so that they can catch their prey and they don’t escape. Both antennae’s are black and are very flexible. They have to be flexible because they need them to bend back when they wiggle into small places. There antennae’s are 2 centimetres long. They use them to feel what’s above them because they can’t bend their head back very far. Their feelers are next to the mandibles and help them tell what food they have caught. They look very similar to the mandibles but are thicker and slightly longer.

Chapter 4-the secrets of the secret Emporium-by Anabelle

When she closed the door and turned around she came face to face with the Emporium’s owner. She expected to be in deep trouble but when she looked into the mans eyes she doubted it. “I told you not to touch my book,” he said. “I-I-I’m s-sorry,” stuttered Keira, shuffling her feet. “I told you not to touch my book,” he said again. “I can offer you a job here,” he said calmly, pacing the room. “But first you must pass a test,”. Then, before she could answer he threw her back and fell into a deep black hole that seemed to go on forever. Finally, she landed on her back in a room that smelt of dust and her grandma’s house. There was no windows but she knew she was defiantly underground. There was a table in the middle of the room. On the table was a golden box. She cautiously walked over to it and took the lid off. Inside the box was a key. It was the most beautiful key she had ever seen. It was gold and had a dark blue gem with silver stars on it, like her door. She felt like there was something magnetic inside of her pulling her towards the key. But a voice inside her head said to walk away. Despite the warning in her head, she picked up the key. It was only a small key so she got her chain from her pocket, put the key on it and hung it on her neck.

Suddenly, quicker then she could blink she was somehow back in the room she was in before she fell into the hole. “Did you find the box?” Said the shop owner. “Yes,”she said. “And did you take the key?” He said, still with his back to her. “Yes,” Keira said again. The man turned to look at her. “Then you have failed my test,” he said calmly “Even though you knew you shouldn’t have took it, you still took it,”. Keira took the chain of her neck. “Heres your key,” she said. “Keep it,” said the shop owner. “You can use it to visit your world,” he said slowly. “But if you don’t mind I have to close the shop,” he said, indicating towards the door. Keira thanked him for letting her keep the key and listened to the jingle of the bell as she walked out of the door. She looked behind her at the Emporium. But the Emporium wasn’t there. Just a road that led to a soap shop.

When she turned her light of and got into bed she thought of what had happened over the past few hours. She thought that it was a dream because she couldn’t think of a reason of how the shop could just disappear. But then as she lay in bed something cold was on her chest. She looked to see what it was. It was the gold key with the dark blue and silver stars gem.

Chapter 2 by Anabelle

There was silence and then the owner of the shop said, “you must never EVER, touch my book of amazements!”. “I-I understand,” stuttered Keira. “Now get out!” Shouted the old man. Keira ran out of the shop without a backwards glance. All the way home she pictured the man in her head so that she wouldn’t forget him. She didn’t know why she wanted to remember him but something told her that she should. She pictured his grey hair, escaping put of his tall top hat, his dirty chipped fingernails, the wrinkles on his skin and bushy white eyebrows. And she knew she could never forget the feeling of those sapphire eyes as they stared through her.

The next day, as Keira was coming home from school she reluctantly walked into the amazing but creepy shop. She had a quick look around and the owner of the shop was nowhere to be seen. The curtain in the corner of the room moved slightly and Keira went over to investigate it. She pulled it back and poked her head around it. Her mouth opened when she saw what was behind the curtain. There was a thin corridor with millions of doors. She couldn’t think of a colour that she couldn’t see. On a table on the left hand side of the soft velvet curtain Keira saw the leather bound book of the mans book of amazements. She looked around but no one was around. She walked over to the book and opened it. Next to the book was a clear glass pot with a brown feathered quill dipped in dark blue ink with silvery glitter in it. She picked up the quill and started to write in the book.

There was a squawk from above her and she looked up. The shop owners crow was hovering above her. It started to fly away and although she didn’t want to follow it curiosity got the better of her. After a few minutes of walking the crow landed on a door frame. The door underneath it was dark blue with silver glitter on it. She realised it was just like the ink she wrote on the page with. She opened the door and walked in. It was exactly as she had imagined it. As she looked around her eyes widened in wonder.

Prologue and chapter 1 by Anabelle

Prologue:

Sometimes there are shops that everybody goes to. But there are also shops that nobody go to. And nobody ever goes to the Emporium.

Even though at Easter the smell of chocolate that wafts through the window is so tempting that it makes you drool. Even though at Christmas the presents are amazing and the Christmas lights flash in the windows like stars. Even thought the scent of salty beach air and McDonalds chips escape out of the open door. Even though there is everything that you can thing of somewhere in the shop. Even though at halloween the decorations are so life like they nearly scare you out of your soul.

No one has ever been in there. It was as if once you passed the shop you forgot about it. Nobody who went past it ever remembered it. No one apart from Keira.

Chapter 1:

Keira could easily get bored. She would get into trouble for it all the time. One day the sun was shining she was walking down Eaves lane when a movement caught her eye. The closed sign on the Emporium had switched to open. In all of her life Keira had never seen the Emporium open. She went to the door and tried to open it. It opened with a creak. Keira quietly shut the door behind her and walked through the door way.

In every direction that Keira looked there was something magical and amazing. In one corner there was a cat that would change colour every few seconds. She saw a bronze cage with playful monkeys with chocolate brown fur. On a table there was a silver bird stand with a red and gold Phoenix sleeping gracefully on it. On the back wall there was a marble fireplace with purple and blue flames lighting up the small room. In a corner there were bookshelves that were as high as the ceiling but one particular book caught her eye. It was a dark navy blue book that had a mysterious sparkling glow coming from it. She walked over to it and picked it up and opened it. As she flicked through the pages her eyes widened more and more at each page.

“I see you’ve found my book of creations,” croaked a voice behind her. Keira slammed the book shut turned around. She looked up into the mans face. He was old with a wrinkled face. His bright emerald eyes stood out on his pale face. A crow dived down onto the mans shoulder. As Keira watched the bird she felt like it’s midnight black eyes were staring straight through her soul.

The Magical Emporium

There are lots of places that have to be hidden. The secret emporium was exactly that.

Even though the glass stained windows shimmered in the sunlight. Even though, toys were waiting to be touched. Even though, you could smell freshly baked muffins. Even though, you could hear the barking of dogs and the purring of kittens. Even though, there was sweets piling up on the cabinet.

But now one entered. The door was too heavy and black. It was if no one wanted you to go in. Not until Nayab did.

Nayab had always been adventurous and her mum had always warned her it would get her into trouble. One rainy morning, Nayab was walking to the grocery store when she noticed something odd. The emporium’s door was wide open

and without really thinking, she stepped inside.

Chapter 1

Everywhere she looked, it was packed with precious goods that she wanted to touch. She saw a gold cage full of puppies howling a tune. A miniature fire engine created sound that filled the shop making even more noise. Several hand painted dolls stared at you as you were walking past. On one cabinet sweets overfilled the long bowl that contained them. There was a display of China dolls getting smaller and smaller until you couldn’t see them. Stuffed animals covered a counter as they looked at you with there round glassy eyes. To one side a rack of outfits, covered in pearls and ribbon. Brilliant gold fish swam around a silver lined bowl. But what interested Nayab the most was an old book with a leather cover labelled do not touch. As she flipped the pages the words came alive and forming different pictures.

“ I see that you have found my book of wonders,” mumbled a voice coming from a shadow in the corner. Nayab was frozen to the spot as she looked at the owner. It was an old man in a scruffy coat. On his shoulder perched a brown owl that shook its head at her, angrily.

If I were a door by Anabelle

If I were an green door,
I would take you,
To a dragon’s lair so you could see their malicious green eyes staring unblinking at you,
To a world selling cucumber flavoured ice cream,
And to a place where leaves turn into pieces of gold.

If I were a black door,
I would teach you,
How to be as unnoticeable as a shadow,
How to be as mysterious as a crow,
And how to be as deadly as a knife.

If I were a red door,
I would stop you,
From falling off a crumbling cliff,
From walking into an active volcano,
And running into the world of the dead.

If I were a blue door,
I would show you,
An ocean that shimmers like sapphires in the sunlight,
Bluebells that can freeze you with one touch,
And an ice queen’s castle.

If I were a pink door,
I would share with you,
The wonders of candy floss made from clouds,
Walking through fields of pink roses,
And a world where your wishes come true.

If I were an orange door,
I would encourage you to,
Go into battle with mountain trolls,
Challenge an evil queen,
Or to face your greatest fear.
