Maya and the Centaur

Eyes like a sunflower in the warm spring.  You could see them from miles away in the black sapphire night. They were slowly getting bigger and bigger… At first the air was silent. Then very distant trotting. Getting louder and louder. Maya didn’t know to either scream or run or stay quiet. The street lamp flickered, wind rustling in her ears. Suddenly she felt a warm breath on her face. Her eyes squeezed shut flicked open immediately. A man’s face was up close. The same yellow eyes looked back at her. His wavy hair was a thick brown colour. She looked down. His legs were… different. Lets just say he was… Half human half horse!

“Who are you?” Maya said, taking a step back.

“Well. I am…”

Ice…Ice…BOY!

My hair was covered in frost. My lips and fingers were blue all over. I pull my beanie over my head further. I see everyone with scarfs, hats and coats rushing about in the centre of New York. I rush home in a hurry, thinking that I might get frostbite any second now. I open the door and turn on the heater. I run upstairs and some toast buttered slightly with a cup of hot chocolate lay on my bedside table. Hello! My name is Paisley! I wrap up in a warm blanket and grab my notebook. Time to plan another days work… BANG! I run to my window. ‘Let me in!’ A boy with a dark, brown fringe starts climbing a pipe that is right next to my room. His emerald green eyes shout for help as he slips down a few centimetres. The icy walls and metal make it harder. I open the window in a hurry and reach out my hand. He grabs hold of it but his cold, wet hands are not good at gripping. I hold his arm but slowly, it starts to slip… He is going to fall… Why does my room have to be four stories high?

Nia Webster

Creaaaaak. I slip through the doorway, scanning my eyes for anything that is worth some money. No luck. Sorry I forgot to introduce myself! I’m Nia Webster and I like to rob. I probably already robbed from you…

Ten thousand years ago, Frost Tulips were in every thatch cottages. They were very hard to pick because they would give you frostbite if you touch them. Only the bravest people from a minute to death will pick them. Now, they are super rare and you can only find them under a blanket of snow in the middle of the woods next to some mouldy mushrooms. The place of weirdness.

The boy had everything he needed: water, friends, pillows, food and help…

Sam had 3 doors to go in: the room of snakes, the room of light and the room of nightmares. She chose nightmares…

She had everything she needed: a bag of food, a handful of magic and an adventure book.

He has 2 options and one was correct:try to survive in a 100 degrees room for 5 minutes or try to beat 5 hungry bears.

Then Primrose heard it: a hiss high above, coming closer until she noticed it was a snake, a cobra in fact.

Maya knew it: a cold slimy creature ran up her back. A big slimy slug!

Eva saw it: one of the 7 sins Glutney, waiting for food to show the other sins it was full of greed,

The book of Wonders.

The book. She knew it was here. Many people have said the book’s Wonders is fake but only a couple people say it’s real. . . “Oi! What are you doing here girl?” A voice screeched behind her. Annabelle gasped. She looked in his eyes. They . . . They were red! “You shouldn’t be here,” He glared at her then turned to the book. “Put that back! How dare you touch that!” Annabelle ran out of the building forgetting the book was in her hand. Why was the man chasing her? Why was he pointing at her hand? She looked down. The book! She stopped running and glared at the strange book. A hot grip touched her shoulder. “You come with me.” . . .
