Slinkamander

Slinkamander

Prologue

Maybe you have been to Lakeland Inn. Stayed a couple nights. Swam in the summer waters, or licked the flavour off raspberry reserve ice cream, maybe even bathed on the rooftop in the water of wonders with your friends of family.

But have you been there in winter?

A bitter blizzard, devouring any object in sight, fog so thick you can’t go outside, hailstones rapidly descending from the clouds. It’s a ghost town then, people who live there refuse to step pass the rusting stop sign for cars, they know why….

Chapter 1

My name is Cassie Williamson and I work as a janitor in the Lakeland Inn. People usually call me Cass. As the janitor I scrub the floors, polish the doorknobs and clear the windows. A friend of mine once told me how awful it would be to spend all day cleaning everything and honestly I agree. I have my own apartment but rarely visit as I spent most of my time at the inn. Managing to adapt, I live in the attic and have borrowed a couple things from the guest rooms. There is a lot of work to be done in summer but at winter I have a whole seasons worth of rest.

There is a voice whispering from the other side of the window, I turn in shock. There is a small child sulking at the window, immediately I open the window to save her from the monstrous blizzard. She climbs in within a second and straight away covers herself in the blanket I once used. “Close the window!”

I must tell you something before I continue. There is a legend the has passed through this city for years, the Slinkamander, legend says it would drag itself ashore and leaving a some sort of slime trail behind, it would not use its hind legs and so it would use its hands to pull its self around the city searching for any sight of humans to devour. At night it would scream the sound of a fork being dragged along a plate, when this was heard all doors were locked and lights turned off. If you got too close a vile smell of rotten fish stenches the air. You would always know if it was a Slinkamander or not because of its extremely bony body and large white eyes.

Some say it sought human flesh. Some say it searched for a friend. Some say it searched for a child. In my lifetime of being a janitor here I have never had such encounters but when I leave the inn my caution level is to a max, especially in winter.

“What is it?!” I whisper back, “Do you need help?”

“It’s here!” She worryingly says with her large blue eyes staring at me. She grabs my hand and while pulling me away from the window she says, still worried, “We can’t let it see us!”

The Little things

The little things

It doesn’t have to be the bizarre event that comes up in your day like a weasel popping its head out its hole,

The walk across a tightrope, wobbling from side to side

Or it doesn’t have to be the golden ball of fire, tucking itself to bed with swooshing waves.

It could be the morning chatter with your sibling during breakfast,

The sight of squawking seagulls, flapping through the frosty air

Or maybe it could be the first sip of water of the day, as fresh as a new born baby.

Be curious like a Blur fish,

What do you see?

What do you hear?

What do you feel?

Just pay attention to the specks of dust,

Appreciate the small good things, don’t dust it away,

It’s there for a reason.

How do Dragons fly?

How do dragons fly?

With wings as silent as the midnight air,

Thrashing down valleys with

Just one blink of an eye.

How do dragons fly?

Their eyes of green ivy,

Weeping tears of terror,

You can only hope you do not meet your fate!

How do dragons fly?

With stomachs filled with

Unlucky victims, searching

For a non-existent exit.

How do dragons fly?

With claws of glory,

Peeling enemies like a banana,

You could only wish to escape.

How do dragons fly?

With a tail so malicious,

Slicing through trees,

Slicing through iron.

How do dragons fly?

With retractable teeth

One minute you can see gums,

Next minute sharp, talon like

Teeth are a staring contest for your fate!

On my way home, Bean city edition

On the Way Home…

I met a man called the Bean monster,

His skin was a sloppy red,

And his teeth were like baby beans,

His hair was so long,

That grime never hesitated to take a look around,

Or too settle themselves in.

I met a girl named Bean Waterfall,

Her hair swished like mixing coffee with milk,

And beans acted like sugar for the drink,

Her skin was drizzled with tomato sauce,

She flowed were ever she wished,

And her fellow friends sometimes even bathed in her.

I met a boy tagged Bean Boy,

Every day he played around with beans,

His legs were long and careless,

His eyes were a deep vermilion,

And his skin was a soft velvet coat

That he only wore at winter.

I met Chuckle Man,

The one nemesis of Beans,

His laugh loured innocent things to his home,

Only to feed on them at dawn ,

Many feared him,

Many dodged him,

But his unlucky victims only found themselves in his stomach.

I met a woman labelled Greed,

Every Wednesday she arrived at bean village,

Her possessiveness for food led her to only get,

More stout by the week,

She never stopped, Beans were getting hungry,

Beans were getting scared.

I met a man titled Gentlemen,

His tender words travelled to ears with a soft breeze,

He wore a smart suit,

and all beans loved him for his kindness,

When beans needed help,

He was the man to call,

When beans were angry,

He soothed them.

I met a woman entitled Bean City,

All the lean beans wore jeans,

And teen beans watched a screen,

The Queen bean loved to preen,

And the king bean was keen to always set a scene.

The land of Beans

The land of Beans

In the land of Beans,

my eyes feasted upon a glorious can of Hienz beans,

It waited for a knife and fork to pierce its skin and to lay upon a tongue,

Soon to be in the stomach.

In the land of Beans,

I captured and fairy bean,

Its fluttering wings tickled like feathers

And its bean sauce was a gooey pudding.

In the land of Beans,

I watched a baby bean play around in tomato sauce,

Mother bean rushed over to it,

Only to find a giggling bean splashing its brother.

In the land of Beans,

I heard the cry of a kidney bean,

Being held in brutal captivity,

Hienz beans whipped It with a strand of mince covered in metal spikes

In the land of Beans,

I tasted a scrumptious can of Heinz Beans,

The flavour sparked my blood flow when I swallowed it with a gulp

And energy dashed though my body.

In the land of Beans,

I witnessed the Bean monster,

The ground groaned when it slowly lifted a foot then landed one,

A bean waterfall broke apart when the great monster landed a jump on top of the bean village.

In the land of Beans,

A hero arrived, BROAD BEAN, Its swift self-ran from building to building saving innocent beans,

What a lovely day that was, Hienz Beans village was saved, everyone was jubilant,

Or so they thought, Broad bean was a fraud..

My creature

The Soobe

The Soobe is an intriguing creature that is millions of years old but has only been discovered recently, what else do we need to know about the Soobe? Is it really what we think it is? Let’s see if readers will be left starstruck with its interesting but amazing abilities. Many people have been standing up for the Soobe’s protection as experts think this would be a good animal to hunt. Let’s dive deep into the information about Soobe’s.

The Soobe is a mixture between a snake, a bee and a moose. Like most flying creatures it has delicate wings from the bee and its body is covered in fluffy yellow and brown stipes that make the creature majestic when it walks, the bee also made the Soobe’s  head elongated with a thin end to the face and soft antenna with small calf’s and small feet. From the snake it has a long greeb coloured tail with a purple snake head that from one bite can sent toxic poison throughout the body within a second, the Soobe also has a long pale snake tongue that slithers in the air. From the moose it has a muscular body with chunky thighs and moose horns. When the Soobe walks its tail slithers like a snake and leaves a gooey green mark behind them. The Soobe is also extremely slow, the fastest recorded Soobe went 10 mph!!!!!!!! The Soobe’s moose horns are the strongest part of the body, if it puts enough strength then it can break through obsidian like cutting through butter. The Soobe doesn’t always have to fly when getting up somewhere high, it can easily just use its feet to climb on walls and ceilings as special pollen produced by the bee feet make its feet sticky. When the Soobe is super exited/ happy the Soobe’s head will turn a bright colour every second, when the Soobe is angry its whole body has I tint of red, When the Soobe is sad its body with have a greyish colour and will be drooping down a lot – these are important emotions to know about as its emotion can affect how the Soobe will behave.

The Soobe’s habitat is usually somewhere extremely cold, the majority of Soob’s live in Antartica to keep away from humans because the humans like hunting Soobe’s because of their slow movement but when hunting them they must hold down the tail and stay away from the head – the moose horns. The Soobe’s create snow houses beside mountains that have snow cantles inside so Soobe’s can locate their houses as their eyesight can be quite bad. Soobe’s feed on polar bears and snow berries that are hard to find as they blend in a lot with snow itself.

Is there more to find out about the Soobe? We don’t know.

Emporium story Prologue, Chapter 1 and Chapter 2

The Secret Emporium Prologue

“Children gone missing every day”, “Reports of giant portals leading them inside” ….
“Hello everyone, this Samuel reporting your news today, once again there has been the 59th Child gone missing in the year of 1968. Parents have been left terrified after some children mysteriously appearing in their beds after disappearing for around about a month and, in a chant, they continuously say, “Portal bring me back”. This has confused many and scientist have been taking tests on these children and the theory is that huge portals, bigger than skyscrapers form before their eyes and words get whispers into their ear begging them to walk inside, that’s what they have got so far. Everyone is left terrified. Most parents prefer their children to stay indoors and only go out once a day in their garden.

Chapter 1 – Through the door.

Phill was a young girl who was extremely kind and smart. Many girls from her school were jealous on how smart and pretty she was. Every day Phill would walk to school with other girls trailing behind her watching her bright blonde hair glisten no matter what the weather was, in fact they were more jealous of her unique bright emerald green eyes that show a smile when you looked at them. Phill was walking to school on a rainy day, as usual girls were trailing behind her watching her hair swish from side to side. Phill was never curious, but something bright caught her eye as she was crossing the very large busy road her eyes seemed to lose its glow and when Phill dropped her umbrella her hair became all dark. Phill stayed still, her heart thumping the tarmac, everything was shaking, huge chunks of the shiny tarmac road got lifted to the sky, the bright floating dot expanded as the chunks of tarmac formed into a circle. Ghosts flew out of the portal and whispered into Phill’s ear, “In, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in.” It soon became too much, Phill wanted to give in, but she fought back and started to run, the portal followed, she looked around, everyone was gone the sky was dull, she started to cry, the portal stopped following her and Phill lay surrounded in her own tears. “This has not happened since 1980 but its 2021 now!!!!!!”, Thought Phill. It’s like the world was glitching, though her eyes were open there was flashes of sun and flashes of people surrounding her, questioning if she was alright but Phill stayed where she was and didn’t move, Phill continued crying suddenly she gave out a huge shriek and ran into the portal as the voices wouldn’t stop, it’s almost like she went mad……………………..
Phill opened her eyes to see an extremely colourful room filled with paintings and antique vases that were on top of dark oak wood shelves and drawers. Phill got up and proceeded to touch a vase, a thin pale hand appeared in front of hers to stop her, Phill stopped and looked at the hand, then the arm, then the shoulder and finally the face. It was a girl, she had pale make-up on and red rose lipstick along with coal black eyes, almost hypnotising Phill. “Don’t touch that, it’s from Paris, very delicate”, Phill stood surprised. “Oh, how rude of me”, explained the girl, “My name is Chilanica”, she said with a smile. Phill smiled back, “My name is Phill”,” I don’t mean to be rude but isn’t Phill a boy’s name?” Chilanica asked, Phill didn’t answer. “Sorry, I will get us some ice cream and we can get to know each other”. Chilanica left the room and Phill started to look around searching for something interesting.
“Ah Chilanica you finally found a friend” came an interesting voice from behind Phill, Phill quickly turned around and witnessed an older version of Chilanica holding a particularly beautiful book that glowed with gold, Phill was recognised the book like she had seen it every day but had no memory of where she must have saw it, her mind was blank and started to walk up to the book, “The book of wonders”, it Seemed to say but Phill couldn’t make it out, without thinking Phill started to attempt to grab the book. “WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU TRING TO DO”, shouted the lady with extreme anger. Phill was terrified but for some reason still wanted to be in reach of the book of wonders, the lady continued to shout and even started to scream, it became like a game of tug of war, Chilanica came running in as soon as the shouting started and tried her best to stop the fight, it didn’t work. Eventually Chilanica shouted, “PHILL STOP ATTAKING MY MOTHER”, Phill stopped and apologised, “I don’t what come over me…”, Chilanicas mother stood and stared at Phill like she was trying to kill her. Just then Phill realised a particularly blue platypus perching on Chilanicas mother’s shoulder, it seemed to smile as it looked around curiously.

Chapter 2 – A Warning disobeyed

Out from behind a blood red curtain came the Platypus that perched on Chilanicas mother’s shoulder during the fight. “My name is Errata, owner of this wonderful emporium, and my daughter Chilanica and my partner in work, Perry the Platypus. One last thing, you can explore the emporium, you can go were ever you want but I warn you, DO NOT touch the book, there are consequences, come on Perry lets go, Chilanica, would you care to get me some rubber coffee, thank you.” Phill stood in shock as she thought how kind she was even though we got into a fight….
Phill went wondering through rooms within rooms and corridors within corridors until they came to an end (Which seemed to never happen). One large room in particular had a stranger feeling than the others, it smelt of burning rubber mixed with coffee and Phill did not seem to remember when Errata asked for something named rubber coffee. Out from underneath a polished birch desk came Perry the Platypus, he seemed to waddle towards her wearing an explorer hat, suddenly Perry speeded up, jumped up to Phill with the shiny book of wonders on its back it was like Perry wanted Phill to disobey Errata’s orders……
Phill took another glimpse of the book and immediately started flipping through the pages to find wonders within wonders, dreams within dreams, one drawing looked so very similar to the room she was in with its grand grey carpets and its shimmering red walls filled with detailed patterns. A black ink pen fell from a thick cushioned chair onto the floor with a large thump, Phill picked it up, sat on the fluffy grey carpet with Perry on her lap and started to draw a dungeon with evil dwarfs, goblins and more, the skies were pitch black and the dungeon was surrounded with burnt trees, Phill basically drew her worst nightmare without thinking of the magic in the emporium.
When Phill had finished she stood up, closed the book and began to feel regret but still she felt Phill wanted to draw more, before she could Perry started to waddle out of the room, in a way that Phill felt she was meant to follow. Perry led Phill through many corridors, many rooms and also a few strange sunny places. After a while Perry stopped Infront of a door, he continually swapped looking at Phill and the strange black painted knocker. Phill new what to do. She used all her strength to lift the circle and to bang it against the glimmering door; its heavy body lifted, turning into nothing it seemed.
The first thing that caught her eye was a huge dark structure, the outline was of like a castle, but a tad evil. Smoke, bats and birds like plague doctors flew from large metal tubes that twisted and turned inside the castle, Goblins, Elves with red eyes surrounded the castle, a wide pathway full of stones let up to the entrance of that spooky house and lava oozed at the bottom of the tall hill that which the castle stood on. An unstable, broken bridge unsteadily wobbled from side to side with a goblin barely holding on. A small patch of grass sat next the castle with gnomes staring at any alive thing within a mile of them. Phill immediately got the thought of what she drew in in the grand room the liked to call it, with the book. Without a thought Phill took a large step into the room. The dark sky beamed upon her, her mind filled with thoughts, it was like it was going to explode.

Wonders.

If I were called to make wonders,

I would take a feast fresh from a banquet made by the Queens chefs,

Tasting like money itself, formed into food, it would taste AMAZING.

I would also take something special to me I find it important to have.

All the spoons from around the world, made from real silver,

Something so amazing that the sun would shine on them every day.

Another thing I would take, the blocks, no circle, only square.

MINECRAFT. The fun never ends in this new dimension, it’s so very splendid.

Something else I would take, ah yes, memes, not any meme… STONKS

The face, so different it makes me laugh, he is a man but actually the meme is a draft.

Another thing, Brussel sprouts, MmMmMMMmmmMm. My favourite.

Many people don’t like them, but I love them, I find the incredibly delicious

Their taste is like you have eaten something very enchanted.

Ah yes, my pets, so very fun to play with I love them so much,

And I’m sure they love me too, A bird, and too guinea pigs.

They don’t always get along but I’m glad that I have them because we get along.

What would I do without this, nothing probably, but I can still do other things, but I do most things on my

Laptop, My laptop is what I use the most.

For my work, for my laughs, for my challenges and for my fun.

Money is something everyone uses to pay, something special,

Well, it’s something I like a lot, because I can buy things to eat and to use.

Almost everyone has money. It’s Important to have or else you won’t have much atall.
