Cogheart – Chapter 4

Emma dreamed of her father’s gentle voice calling her. She was sprinting down a long and dark hallway towards the voice. But as she came closer and closer, the sound had shifted further away.

When she awakened in the barn,  sunlight was peeking in. Dean was still fast asleep, but Marc was all energetic, showering himself. He looked up at Emma with his amber eyes halfway open. Emma snuck over and began to wind up the shiny key. After a while, he stretched his arms and mumbled. “That’s much better. By all that ticks, it’s time to return what is legally yours. I saw Professor Tinklediddle only 15 minutes ago and the rascal is setting up his golden airship! Up you get you unambitious people, we have got work to do!”

“ Oi, I was having the best dream ever you know,” moaned Dean. Yawning, he stretched his body and his red eyes.

Together, Emma, Dean, and Marc tip-toed over to the airship, where they saw Professor Tinklediddle holding a wooden box on board. Marc led the way onto the ship, and Marc had opened the box-finding the amazing designs still remaining inside. But the professor spotted them and came sprinting, shouting like a furious karen. Emma quickly released the airship ropes, and they had floated into the sky. The three watched as the professor stamped his foot, turning red and spluttering but they were already way too high to hear what he was spitting out.

Below the deck, they found Albert Chester tied up to a chair. Emma had freed him. “ Come on,” he said, climbing on deck and taking control of the airship.” We will soon put some sense into that villain and find somewhere to land and then seek out the Policemen.” As the airship floated above the town, the children stared at the view in awe. Tiny houses dotted the edges of the hills that quite looked like a drawing of a dog. Big flurries of snow had started falling on to the hunter-green fields and Emma had begun to smile with happiness, to be with her father again. Marc flapped his wings and fell asleep as Christmas came closer.

Clockwork Chapter 3

Dean sat down silently in the shed, looking at the floor, whilst Emma searched highly desperate for a way out. She checked the window to see if she could fit, but it was too small. She also tried to shout for help, but that didn’t work either. It was no use with Dean just sitting there, not even thinking about helping her. She angrily snapped at Dean for not thinking of a way out, “ Instead of just sitting there looking like a tired mum of 7, you might at least find a way to escape!” However, Dean just exhaled, saying that the plan on how to escape was difficult. Emma just folded her arms and tapped her foot eagerly whilst her face turned red. There seemed no idea on how to escape, and what was even worse, Dean had seemed to give up.

As the sun fell, the shed became gloomy and cold. Inside, the shadows extended across the room and soon it became dark. Outside, the night sky was freckled with stars and the full moon cast a light across the yards of  Withersmore. All of a sudden, Emma heard a strange noise.Within a minute, they were both at the window ledge gaping out. A high pitched squealing was in the distance and glowing red eyes appeared in the dark. It was Marc, their mechanical eagle. Emma wound him up and he dropped a key in her hand.

Using the key, Emma carefully unlocked the door. She and Dean snuck out into the garden full of roses, with Marc leading the way across the yard to the safety of an old farmhouse. There, Dean made a fire while Emma explained everything that they had discovered. They escaped, but questions remained: where was the clock and what had happened to Albert Chester and his plans?

Coral Bells

Coral Bells

Coral Bells shimmer

like golden daffodils

flowing in the summer breeze.

Their chestnut roots

like electricity, sink deep

into fur-soft soil

that collapses

like unsturdy buildings.

The emerald stem pokes up,

like an eagle

flying in the clear sky.

Petals perch

like long, cat-scratching claws.

Daisy white, crocus flowers,

edged with sunflower yellow, sneeze

revealing the mystery stash

of sweet honey.

The leaves are smooth

like a lion’s mane, swaying

in the whistling wind.

On the way to school

On the way to school

I met a child of Sadness.

Her eyes were like the titanic sinking

In the deep, cerulean ocean.

She whispered the sounds

Of waves in my ear.

I met a boy of Summer.

His freckles glistened

In the sun like meteors falling

From the night sky.

He was dancing

underneath the bright moon.

I met an angel of Wind.

Her lips creamy white.

Her voice cloud-soft

Sounding like the cold fan

During one of the hottest month.

She lay down

in the meadows

of yellow sunflowers.

I met a women of Love.

Her eyes, bright pink

With heart pupils

Shining in the spring fields

Of Winter.

She smiled

Like a newborn baby

Her white teeth shimmering

In the sunshine.

In the land of Neverbelieve, I heard the distorted screams of horror in the abandoned mansion.

In the land of Neverbelieve, I tasted a cold sorbet with a mix of mango and strawberry.

In the land of Neverbelieve, I saw the stars glittering in the night sky.

In the land of Neverbelieve , I heard the mournful cry of the proud parrot glistening like crystals in the ice-queen’s cave.

In the land of Neverbelieve, I found a terrified terrier barking at the shadows as the miserable willow sobbed.

In the land of Neverbelieve, I saw a furious German Shepherd growling and going around its most despised enemy.

In the land of Neverbelieve, I heard the splashes of the waves in the gorgeous summer mist.

In the land of Neverbelieve, I tasted the delightful, crunchy , chocolate covered ice cream , melting on my tongue.

In the land of Neverbelieve , I saw the darkness of a Grim reaper waiting in the autumn breeze.

Mermander C3

Chapter 3

A couple of days later and we are laying in my living room. We sit in the room , taking sips of fresh tea, my favourite drink. Through the window, a strange breeze covers the buildings in the distance. Inside, we are covered up in the cosiest blanket. However, Ezra had other plans, rather than sitting in a little warm cottage. “ Olivia, you must help me find the Mermander.” Ugh, not again, I think, rolling my eyes. “ I know where it lives! You must trust me!”

It really does turn out that Ezra wasted his time standing outside with the freezing wind. He claims to have seen it in the distance. It is very clear in front of the abandoned fair for some reason. We all thought that it didn’t have feet, just a mermaid tail.

I start to lock up the zoo and make sure everything is secured before I leave. At this time of night , the Mermander would be out, so I grabbed a torch and left. Whilst I walk home, I bump into Ezra. He wouldn’t stop begging for me to help him find where the Mermander lives. “For the last time Ezra, no!” I shouted. Ezra just thinks that I don’t spend a lot of time looking after the animals and cleaning up. He’s so selfish and stubborn, but then I find myself following him…

I hadn’t believed him, but the footsteps are very , very clear. There are two sets, one that is big and the other looks like somebody had been dragged into the sea. “Come on, let’s have some fun while we can!” Ezra cries out, flashing his torch. I’m not feeling like having fun , I just wanna go back home, but I still do have the feeling that Ezra is going to lead us into trouble.

The beach is rusty. Very rusty. It smells like rotten human flesh. Street lights shine against the empty street. My heart skips a beat, a sign of being scared. Just as I’m thinking that we are going to get killed by the mander, Ezra finds it. There it is, in the distance, with hard rain smashing against the ground. We find a stranded egg, glowing bright blue with seaweed on it. We freeze and glare in awe. The Mermander has an egg.

In that exact moment, I feel a hard stab of guiltiness. We shouldn’t be here. “Let’s go,” I say, dragging Ezra towards safety, away from the egg. But our only way is blocked by something, something familiar. It slowly shifts, having big feet, coming towards us with a soft purr. It doesn’t sound polite. We’ve heard it before, in the abandoned fair. We both shine our torches in front of us. There it is. “The Mermander!” I say with a loud voice. Ezra and I step back, trying to escape…

Sunset Paradise

You might have been to Cove beach during summer, you have probably dived into the crashing , blue waves and sunbathed under the Hawaiian sun umbrella. You might have activated your taste buds with a lick of Sunset cafe’s birthday cake ice cream , or dipped the freshly baked rolls into the sweet, tasty brown sugar.

But in winter, you might have bought all the coats, gloves, scarves and hats in the shop. You probably have felt the tip of your tongue feeling numb , or even your taste buds being deactivated. You should try staying in Maybank Hotel , which has all the winter supplies. The public have stopped going to the beach…. and some even say, they have a really good excuse.

Chapter 1

Hi , my name is Olivia Lauren and I work at Blackpool Zoo , which is full of chaos against the animals. I am the caretaker of the zoo. I feed the lions, giraffes, baby elephants, etc. Someone once told me,(a Karen), I shouldn’t be working here, but I ignored them. I have a storage room to keep my stuff in because apparently a thief is on the loose in Blackpool. I’m lonely at home , but at least I have my dog Poppy. She’s almost a year old , she’s 11 months and a half. It isn’t so busy during winter because hardly anybody visits.

A boy taps on the window and whispers, ‘Let me in!” I gaze at him confused, not sure what to do about it. I’m really not allowed to open the door for anyone at this time of night, and plus I was in the middle of cleaning. He stares at me with glowing, amber eyes as he knocks on the window repeatedly and harder saying, “ Hide me!”

Before I continue about what happens next, there is this one story about Blackpool Beach that I have to tell you. It happened recently , about 2 weeks ago. Not really everyone knows about it. Local legends tell of a sea creature that comes out at night ,crawling out of the ocean like a creepy monster. Apparently, people are saying that its name is known as Mermander. It only comes out approximately at 12 am and when it’s stormy. It has a scaly texture like a slithering snake crawling through the wet forest. Its eyes are as bright as the sun on spring days. If the locals had heard a growling sound, they would have to immediately have to lock their doors and close the curtains.

Rumour has it the creature drowns people if they record it and post it on the internet. Recently 5+ people have gone missing because of this sea creature. Locals have been calling the police but they didn’t believe what they were saying. When it was a stormy night at 12 am, the Mermander crawled out of the sea hunting something/ someone down. Harriet said, “ My little brother went missing! I think the creature killed him!”

Prolouge and Chapter 1

Prolouge

You’ve probably only ever been on an airship that barely has anything colourful or fun. Remember how it feels to bear the breeze of the wind blowing in your face , to see the golden fields and towns below you and to feel everyday life.

I bet you’ve enjoyed holiday flights across the open oceans , journeys to see your distant relatives , knowing that when you have landed , you will be able to relax for several months.

But you should try a magical trip when the spring comes , you’ll be able to feel the spring vibes awakening in your body. When the flowers bloom around you, when the sun shines. You will have something to do your whole way to your destination.

Have you even ever been on an airship where the engines have failed and it comes crashing down. Well be careful and prepared on any airship you ever go on.

Chapter 1

Lily tightly gripped the dusty railings of the colourful skyship , slipping slowly with the pouring rain. She gazed at her best friend Liam with a frown on her face. They had left town behind about four days ago and should have been passing over the Cheviot Hills, but this terrific storm had blown them off track.

At that minute, they weren’t very lucky. Liam saw eight cloud phoenixes striking fire towards the Wanderlusts. Captain Justeene warned the passengers to stay calm as they were panicking.

For a moment, the phoenixes disappeared into thin air as she turned the wheel towards a huge thunderstorm. Rapid lightning struck and roaring thunder rumbled. Liam glared at Lily who was daydreaming at the sky. ” HOLD TIGHT ONTO SOMETHING, WE ARE ABOUT TO CRASH!” Captain Justeene shouted.

A few hours later, the Wanderlusts drifted below the clouds and the breezy air followed them. They dipped down, moving side to side by the horrible storm that used to be the sun. Liam and Lily glanced up, piercing for the phoenixes. Had they managed to escape them?
