The Grackle.

Within a second the silhouette of Snake Soul, one of the Grackle leaders stood in front of him. His whole body was covered in gold armour and he had a diamond encrusted sword in his right hand. He never wore a helmet, he just wore a metal snake mask. The trolls shrieked and without any warning, the streets were filled with goblins, trolls, ogres and dragons of all different shapes and colours.

When the tension had cleared, bodies of wounded monsters were laying on the ground next to the alleyway. Also there was no evidence of Snake Soul. Nervously, Joseph dashed back to the basement and quietly shut the door behind himself. He was certain Snake Soul had come for the wolves.

By sunset, Joseph,Jane and James had escaped Vine Village and were crossing a massive field to Wolly Woods. The adventure had almost taken a full 17 hours so it was night and they found themselves tucked in a shed they had found in the heart of the field. The shed was glowing yellow and it illuminated the grass and weeds around it. Jane thought that they were too close to Snake Soul but they needed rest so they came to the decision to stay the night.

Outside the shed, the flowers swayed under the silver moonl. Inside the shed, Jane was roasting mushrooms and chicken above the blazing fire. Carefully, Joseph slipped the plastic bubble wrap off the knife their father had given them. Joseph had never used it before. It was a purple, shiny colour and it had ‘ARMY spring’ engraved on it. The knife  glowed a bright yellowy, green and that meant trolls, ogres and goblins were nearby.

The door made a squealing sound as wind applied pressure on it. Soon, Joseph could hear faint footsteps outside the warm, cozy shed. He thought it was just an animal but as soon as he turned his back, trolls burst through the ancient door causing it to fall on the ground and make a massive dust cloud. The dust went into all three of the wolves’ crystal, blue eyes making Joseph fling his knife and clutch his eyes. The wolf fell back and hit Jane who was standing in front of James trying to protect him. It looked like dominos falling down. The wolves were paralyzed as the fall damaged their backs. The oldest tried to look around for the pocket knife but he soon realised that it was on top of the dusty workbench smothered in spiders.

It was way too late. A snake mask appeared amongst the monsters. It was nudging the slimy, unclean creatures out of the way to get a better look. It was Snake Soul. His eyes glinted at Joseph. “Trying to hide from me?!” Questioned Snake Soul in a deep, croaky voice. “You’re not very good at it.” Exclaimed the snake. Clapping his giant, scaly hands together, trolls hurried forward and took hold of the three siblings. They arrived at a dimly lit cave where they could hear the sniggers and the laughter of the Grackles. It was there when they realised that the place they had been staying at was the Grackles next target.

The Grackle.

As the sun rose, Joseph had woken up to some sort of tweeting noise. He could see the silowet of a quite fat bird. Cautiously, Joseph unzipped the tent and saw Robin, the messenger bird. Relieved, the wolf wiped the sweat off forehead and took the letter Robin was carrying. It was from their mother writing about how the Grackle had destroyed the warrens and found their footsteps and was now following them. There wasn’t any time to waste. With Robin’s help, the gang checked the map and headed South.

As they walked off, the wind howled. There had been a storm last night and snow covered the and completely hid the leaves of trees making their journey even harder. Ice had trapped the river underneath it. Joseph knew that the Grackle wouldn’t have to use much effort to track them down as it was impossible to not leave a footstep behind whilst walking on snow. In the afternoon, they had reached the outskirts of the mountain and right there the wolves halted. They could just make out the outline of Vine Village. Maybe they could hide there thought all of the wolves.

A couple of minutes later, the tired band of wolves found themselves right at the entrance of Vine Village. The place was filled with Ogres and trolls, goblins, even pet dragons. Ogres stood at the back of Vine Village so they had to be sneaky. So, wolves roamed and sneaked around the place trying to find a shelter.

As the moon disappeared, tired Joseph found the best hiding place hidden by buildings. It was not a clean but hidden basement. It was covered in straw. Outside the trees swayed. Inside Joseph and Jane talked about the Grackle and wondered if it was close. Baby James was huddled up in a damp corner and soon was asleep.

The oldest crept out to get food he stuck to the dark quiet places and searched around. About three trolls passed the alleyway. Two or three guards trod on a rat then roasted it on top of a ferocious, blood red fire crushing the tiny bones. Joseph shivered. He thought all of the goblins and the trolls were as bad as the Grackle. A few minutes later, Joseph found a deserted market stall. Joseph ‘borrowed’ two loaves of bread, an apple and a carton of milk so they wouldn’t get thirsty.

At that very moment, Joseph  heard a shout from a rusty house isolated in the corner. “OOH ARE YERS?!” An old, wrinkled goblins face peeped out of a shattered window. Nervously, he ducked behind old milk crates. An orange, dirty eye appeared in the shadows. Something was coming closer and closer. The trolls and ogres all clutched a metal bat and worked their way towards the petrified wolf. Shaking, he silently waited hoping he would not be found.

The Grackle.

Finally they were ready to leave. In the morning, a message had arrived from a messenger bird to announce that the Grackle was a few minutes away from Hicker Hills. No one would survive if they stayed in the hills. There were too many crunchy leaves that would give away their spot if they stepped on one and the warrens were too fragile to withstand the power of the Grackle.

So it was up to the three wolves, Joseph,Jane and James. They left home. Their journey to escape the Grackle would unfortunately take four days but first they would have to pass through Menace Mount and make their way to Vine Village, over to Wolly Woods and then finally across Bronty Bridge to Vile Valley. Not even the Grackle could enter the Valley, covered with pebbles and leaves by wolves long ago. Once the wolves reached their destination they would be safe. Other wolves have chosen to go somewhere else but Joseph’s mother had given them an old map that showed them the way to Vile Valley. Too ill to travel she had stayed in the hills. Holding the ancient map, the gang of three wolves hiked up the emerald, green hills. Soon they arrived at Menace Mount, making their way to Vile Valley. Thick snow builded up as they followed the pathways. Carefully, Joseph took the lead. Walking slowly as the winter winds nearly swept the map away. Wherever he looked, he pictured the piercing eyes of the Grackle or or the sharp eyes of bears.

Following behind, Jane carried baby James. Tired, she tried to follow her older brother. Jane tried to make it fun for baby James but soon he realised what they were actually doing. As the sun descended and the wind grew stronger, the group decided that they would take out their tent and sleep on the mountain for the night. Joseph and Jane assembled the tent and James had gathered some nearby rocks he had found. Joseph rubbed the rocks together making a fire. Soon they were all warm.

That night they nibbled on bits of cookie, dried mango, cheese and bananas. James was soon fast asleep snuggled in a pink sleeping bag. Carefully, Joseph zipped up the tent so the Grackle wouldn’t see them.

As Joseph fell asleep his mind was still awake dreaming about the Grackle unzipping the tent and finding them. Would they ever reach Vine Valley?

How to care for a Unicorn.

How to care for a Unicorn.

Have you ever dreamed about having a pet unicorn? If so, you have come to the right place. Also you may have to purchase one from your local unicorn shop.

What you will need:

A blanket, a comb, a boombox, a unicorn whistle lot’s of food and a collar.

What you do to care for your unicorn:

  1. A) Firstly your new pet unicorn will roam around and explore but if they go too far you may blow your unicorn whistle and they will return to you. Even if their mies away they’ll still come back as they have fabulous hearing.

  1. B) At 12:00 AM your pet unicorn will need breakfast. This is the last meal that your unicorn eats for the day so you must make it extravagant. You shall give them sausages with eggs, loads of water and grass, leaves and chicken. Do NOT give them chocolate as it is poisonous towards them.

  1. C) Now, keep your unicorn safe in a simple hole or shed. If you decide to keep your unicorn in a hole you need to cover the ground with leaves and smoothen out the edges as this reminds them of the forest. If you decide to keep them in a shed then furnish the place with a comfy sofa paired with two buckets. One filled with water and the other filled with grass.

  1. D) After, place the unicorn collar onto your unicorn and then check up on it every 28 minutes.

A word of warning:

Once you’ve had your unicorn for over 6 years it may wonder off to start a new life or family. This may be upsetting for a few days but you will get over it.

Rare Unicorn spotted!

Armitage Cactle

Last Tuesday at 5:30 AM, Mat Res,42 years old, caught a sight of a rare Storm unicorn near Crickle mountain. Mat, who works as a paleontologist, was looking for fossils when he heard a loud neighing noise. He told Issain News that once he looked up he believed he saw a legendary Storm unicorn.

When Issain News interviewed Mat two days ago, he claimed that he was amazed, shocked and worried. He also explained that, “Never in my life did I think unicorns existed so you could say I was very surprised when I came across one.”

Police, who were surprised by Mat’s story, have warned citizens to stay aware and keep cautious when near mountains and to report any unusual sounds to the police. Local unicornologist, Dr Deed, explained that. “These fascinating creatures are harmless towards humans and to stay silent when you're near one as they might get frightened.”

The storm unicorn.

The Storm Unicorn.

Across the world there are many different types of unicorns however one of the most intriguing one is the storm unicorn as very little is known because they are far up in the mountains.

Where the storm unicorn lives.

Storm unicorns surprisingly live near rock pools at the peak of mountains. People usually think they live in the sky due to them being called ‘The storm unicorn’ but they actually live on the top of mountains so they can drink, rest and play. The temperature on the mountains are -2 degrees since storm unicorns love the cold as the cold enables their powers.

What do storm unicorns look like?

You may be wondering what the storm unicorn looks like. Well I’m about to tell you. Interestingly they have soft cottony wings, a crystal turquoise horn, sharp heavy hooves, a white silky mane and a large lightning bolt engraved into its torso. It also has black piercing eyes.

What is the storm unicorns diet?

The storm unicorn, which eats insects, mountain goats and plants growing in the mountains. They can also store food in their stomach if they are not hungry. Surprisingly they can last 2 weeks without food.

Storm unicorns behaviour?

Generally, the storm unicorn plays with its horn by shooting lightning out of it. They tend to chase other unicorns as well as fight with each other!

Did you know these facts?

Amazingly, The storm unicorn can shapeshift when they see threats or prey. This makes it easier for them to camouflage themselves.

Weirdly, the storm unicorn is related to the ocean unicorn as they both came from the same unicorn.

Unusually the storm unicorn finds it funny to scare other animals. When animals come close to them they lash out and make a squealing noise!

What should you do if you found one in public?

If you see one of these majestic creatures on your local street they’re probably lost. They love eating ants so get a jar and fill it up with the tiny insects. Don’t try to ride them otherwise you’re risking death. Once you’ve gained their trust, tell an adult with a good reputation and ask them to build a shelter for them. Unfortunately, there are loads of people out there who slaughter and hunt these creatures so keep the nest in a deserted area.
